Bottled. Copper colour, near no head. Fruity toffee aroma with a little bit of apples. Potent and very sweet with crystal malt character and clean, sugary mouthfeel. A touch of grassy hops among the sugar in the finish.

Bottled (BB 06/2004)
Nut brown. Tanned small head. Sweet malty aroma. Good smooth palate: sweet, slightly alcoholic. Some prunes like in Belgian ales. Hides alcohol quite well and finishing short.

Muddy brown/tan; husky aroma, slight rusting tin, stewed tomato, earthy hop; palate shows toffee, slight oxidized hop, sticky Munich malts. Finishes sweet, with a slight sugar note and some house funk. Brewed in the classic Soviet Zhigulevskoye style.
Earlier Rating: 12/26/2002 Total Score: 2.8
Clear gold; fresh hop aroma, with slight cat's piss (oh joy!). Herbal, almost pungent (though restrained) hops and bready malt blend well. Slightly bitter finish, light overall.

Pours pale yellow and really cloudy. Looking deep into my glass there are some huge yeast floaters. Creamy head. Orangey aroma. Sweet and medium bodied, soft mouthfeel, some vanilla, but not a lot of esters.

That's right boys - when in Lithuania, have some \"alus\". This is the standard brew. Feels right when you get it in the dark brown cafés of the old town of Vilnius or Kaunas - hardly elsewhere.
