Description
Parish Brewery award winning ales are brewed in a 400 year old converted stable block in Burrough on the Hill in rural East Leicestershire. It is here that we follow the traditional ways of brewing using only the finest malted barley, East Kent Goldings and Fuggles hops, yeast and water.

The brewery began life in 1983 and was the first microbrewery in the area and the forerunner to many others that have opened since. The brewery has a 20 barrel plant brewing over 5,000 pints per brew.

Gravity cask from the Rutland CAMRA Beer Festival, June 2023, Rutland County Museum, Oakham. Chestnut brown and clear with the tiniest smattering of off-white head. Light malty nose, a little touch of stone fruit. The fruitiness is a lot more prominent in the taste with the initial sweetness pushed down by an intense bitterness. Cherry juice and medical hop in the aftertaste. Very good.

Gravity cask from the Rutland CAMRA Beer Festival, June 2023, Rutland County Museum, Oakham. Amber gold, clear with a smattering of white head. Light, slightly astringent notes in the aroma with dried grass, metal, ripe citrus peels. Balanced taste with a sweetness turning bitter, again slightly astringent. Sharpish bittering hops in the finish. Lovely little bitter even if there's not that much to it.

Gravity cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. It's very dark gold: golden brown really. Clear. A wisp of white head leaves considerable lacing. Malty, grassy aroma. A bit dirty but fairly simple. Taste is sweet, malty-led, with a touch of astringency turning stronger just at the finish. I also get caramel, light notes of grape. I struggle with this one a bit.
