Cask @ Abel Heywood, Manchester. Healthy clear golden colour with a creamy-smooth head. Hoppy, fairly smooth but more crisp and clean. Good taste in this respect.

Cask @ Abel Heywood, Manchester. Crisp darker clear golden brew with a creamy head. Hoppy but predominantly bitter in design, the result is a lack of flavour, but quite good if you enjoy a bitterness.

Cask at Vines, Nantwich – as Hydes Hopster. Pours a pale straw with a small foamy almost white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma – just some hints of hops. In the mouth it starts off quite sweet with hints of summer fruits before sharpness and bitter undertones come through very quickly. A mix of traditional and floral hops with citrus gradually increasing until it comes to dominate. Hints of mango leadingto a sticky finish. It’s ok, but not my sort of beer at all.

Cask at Vine, Nantwich. Pours golden brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has mainly malts with some traces of honey and floral hops. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy but with some underlying bitterness. Flavour has hops and autumn fruits plus some hints of nuts and herbs. Bitterness increases in the slightly dry finish. This is OK, just rather boringly average.

Cask @ Abel Heywood, Manchester. Golden with a frothy head. Not quite a typical red ale with an English fruitiness to proceedings in both aroma and taste, but not overly appealing either.

Cask @ Abel Heywood, Manchester. Crisp lighter golden ale with a creamy head. Hopped with a palatable smooth texture, its session styling is an asset here.
