Halifax Steam
Brewpub
in Halifax,
West Yorkshire,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Cock O' The North (Halifax Steam)
Established in 2001
In 2006, the brewery developed its aspirations for quality and expanded into a brewery tap. This brewery tap was titled the Cock o’ the North. To ensure that the consistent quality of the beer was always enjoyed, the brewery remained only metres from the Cock o’ the North bar. This made sure that there was a direct ‘brewery to tap’ concept that was the first of its kind in the area. Since then, the success kept pouring in for 8 years, until The Halifax Steam Brewing Company decided it was time to develop further…
Due to an increase in demand, the bar area doubled in size to accommodate the ever increasing number of regular visitors. During the first few months of 2014 the Cock o’ the North bar underwent an expansion and facelift, which saw the brewery relocated to an adjacent building.
Customers can enjoy the warm glow of a wood burning stove, cosy sofas and a choice of seating in the cold winter months. In the summer, a private landscaped beer garden; and a regular venue for live events!

Halifax Beer Festival. Clouded straw coloured with a thin head. The ginger is dominant but not overbearing due to its thin texture

Bottle at home on 11th December 2011. Pours hazy gold with very little head and no lace. Fruit and floral hop aromas, very pleasant bouquet of Muscat grape, ginger, floral hoppiness and fine citrus fruits. Citric tang leads a rich fruity finish. Light zinginess of texture, good body to beer. Could easily drink another pint.

Bottle, at home on 10th December 2011. Deep brown-red with very little lacing from an offwhite head. Malty aroma then a mix of roasted malts and some bitterness; finish develops and becomes bitter. Medium body light to zingy mouthfeel.

An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet caramelic, combined with light notes of butter, while the flavor is sweet with notes of both caramel and yeast.
