Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a hazy very bright yellow color with an enormous foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweetish with cake icing and a touch of yeast. The flavor was bitterish with notes of cake, icing, yeast and a faint medicinal note. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

At the source: pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is roasty, barrel in the nose, chocolate and molasses. Kind of sweet and roasty. Pretty smooth and easy. Not as complex as I would like.

12 ounce can. Hazy medium gold color. Large foamy white head with clinging lace. Fragrant citrus hop nose. First sip yields big fruity malt and bitter hops. Notes of peach and grapefruit. Bittersweet overripe citrus in finish. Hides alcohol well. Decent.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a relatively thick rich brown head, that shows about 80% opacity in the body. Aroma of strong smoked meat, liquid smoke, mushrooms, roasted malt, a hint of coffee and more, artificial smoked notes without much depth. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted notes with coconut and toffee by far the strongest up front with a big dose of bitterness from coffee, all finished up by some smoke flavours that border on mushrooms, bacon and liquid smoke. Aftertaste has a hint of depth from the malt, but still some relatively unconvincing thin bodied notes of cardboard, toast, grain and liquid smoke with mushrooms and coffee also around. Overall, an interesting beer that just rubs me the wrong way with a thin body, not much malt around, yet a big smoke flavour - tastes on the liquid smoke/fake side of things without much complexity, as well. Worth passing up, or trying to see if this is all a bad rating and the beer IS actually really good!?! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 26-November-2016 for US$1,69 sampled at home in Washington on 06-August-2017.
