As gueuze goes, this is a mid-carder. A sweet and sour brew with a restrained brettanomyces character. Sour and complex enough to be taken seriously but not so much as to be off limits to all but the hardcore fans.Rerate June 29, 2002:The way this beer is going, they will soon have to change the name to Mort Subite Faro. Losing complexity by the batch as they dump increasing amounts of sugar in. It's darker now, too, which I don't care for in a gueuze.

Wine-red colour, pink head. HUGE raspberry-aroma with some underlying horseblanket notes. Tart, somewhat sourish raspberry-flavour , gets sweeter after a while. Decent beer if you like raspberries. Could be mistaken for soda pop though.

Nice amber color. Fine lacing. Artificial flavors. When you're familiar with Fruitella: the raspberry one. Palate extremely sour, like all lambics are probably.

Lots of peach-flavour. Too much sweetness and not enough lambic-character. .

Easily the weakest entrant in the Mort Subite line - harsh, pitty astringency and far too much sugar.

Mort Subite is some underrated lambic. It's not the best, but it's not as sweet as Lindeman's, and quite frankly it's still lambic, which in and of itself makes it fantastic beer.

My favourite Mort Subite. A little but of nuttiness and more evident barnyard flavours seperate this from the others in the range.

Is it just me or are Mort Subite's fruit beers underrated. They're not Girardin, but I think with the moderately assertive tartness they make a much better introduction to lambic than certain more popular, but much sweeter examples.
