On tap at Flying Pig Tavern & Tap in Bordentown, NJ. Number one with a bullet. Hazy honey gold pour. Creamy beige head is minimal. Nice lacing. Fragrant floral and citrus aroma. Notes of orange and melon. Soft creamy mouthfeel leads to bittersweet citrus and bready malt flavors. Notes of lime, grapefruit and orange peel. Some warming alcohol in middle. Pine and citrus peel on backend. Nice balance and body.

16 oz from the BA Extreme Beer Box. Aroma has notes of booze, coconut, toffee, sherry, soy sauce, cashew brittle, molasses, sake. Pours very dark brown with a one finger beige head with decent retention. Taste is highly sweet with raisiny barrel aged character.

Thick, sweet, creamy. Lots of coconut, the good non-suntan lotion kind, bourbon, maple, a touch of roast, vanilla. Velvety smooth, nicely balanced, delicious.

16 ounce can. Hazy orange gold pour. Rocky beige head. Floral hop aroma hints at rose petals, stone fruit and tropical citrus. Flavor brings wonderfully complex and layered notes of tangerine, peach, melon and papaya. Some booziness in middle. Finishes with a burst of lime, grapefruit and pine. Quite tasty.

500 ml bottle from brewery. Opaque black pour. No head. Roasted malt aroma has vinous notes. Flavor is sweet roasted malt, chocolate, dark dried fruits and bourbon. Wonderfully complex. Viscous mouthfeel. Warming alcohol. Sticky and sweet with vanilla notes in finish.

On tap at Flying Pig Tavern & Tap in Bordentown, NJ. Number one with a bullet. Translucent reddish brown color. Small creamy beige head. Notes of toasted malt and spice in the aroma. Flavor is bittersweet with notes of toasted malt, burnt sugar and Baker’s chocolate. Perhaps some dried fruit as well. Bittersweet hop finish has peppery notes.

On tap at Uno Chicago Grill in Hamilton, NJ. Not on regular beer menu. Thanks for the tip, Michele! Opaque, jet black pour leaves a scant creamy tan ring. Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Flavor upfront is bittersweet chocolate, dark roasted malts and coffee. Complex layers of treacle, cinnamon, toasted chilis and toasted pecans. Then comes a subtle oakiness, smooth bourbon and burnt sugar component. Mouthfeel is silky smooth and exquisite. Finishes with warming alcohol, subtle chili spice and brownie brittle notes. A spectacular effort from NJ’s best brewer!
