Dark porter with a thin off white head. Light chocolate malt in aroma. In mouth, sweet chocolate malt balls with some roasted nuts come out. Watery bodied. Boring overall. On tap Feb.10, 2006.

Orange amber ale with no head. Light sweet fruity malt, with notes of pears. Sweet caramel taste, with light treacle candy notes, no alcohol warmth noted. Good but more like a Vienna. On tap Feb.10, 2006.

Lightly hazed copper ale with a thin white head. Light caramel aroma. Light malt taste, nutty notes, and faint hops. A wimpy ESB. On tap Feb.10, 2006.

Lightly hazed gold IPA with a thin white head. Light malt aroma with floral hops. Very light bodied IPA, with discreet floral hops and citrus, watery and plain. On tap Feb. 10, 2006.

Golden pils with a thin white head. Very faint malt aroma. Very crisp german hops, chalky notes, light bodied. Refreshing. On tap Feb. 10, 2006.

[Cask at GBBF 2005] A red-brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet roasted combined with notes of over ripe fruits and prunes. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of prunes and malt, but also very slight notes of roastiness, and a slightly bitter end.

Nitro Pint at the brewpub, 8/19/2005 with Eyedrinkale. Deep, dark chocolate brown-black body with a rich, tan, nitro head, full and lasting. No lacing left on the glass though. Aroma had me searching and believe me I tried. EDA kept telling me how nice the aroma was, and I kept sticking my face in the glass, covering the glass, swirling and sniffing, but I really couldnt get much. Taking in to account the nitrogen, I suppose there isnt as much to be smelled. What was there was cocoa powder for sure, dry, slightly musty yeast and umm, that’s all I really got. Flavor begins with milk chocolate, with light vanilla hints, peanut brittle and a touch of hops, though no where near overdone or horribly bitter. Thinned out from the nitro, but not terribly watery. Light roast and licorice on the end, with chocolate through and through. An easy, refreshing drink, but not an Imperial Stout in my book. There’s hardly any roast/coffee. Seems like just a stout to me. Balanced and drinkable though, with a thin and loose texture, not completely unlike hot chocolate. It’s no grande noirceur.

Pint on draught at the brewpub, 8/19/2005 with Eyedrinkale. Red colored, hazy and has a burnished copper tint to it, rather looks like a red ipa. Head is small, retained barely at a thin film and there is little lacing. Aroma of white and black pepper, leafy, dry hops, not terribly fresh smelling, just sort of peppery and bitter. Some fruitiness, light oranges and limes. Little malt to speak of in the nose, passing buttercream and a light, fresh yeastiness confirms that it is fresh, despite the less than exciting hops. Flavor is very one-sided, boring, astringent hops bitterness, quite citric, with very little hops flavor. Light caramel malt is barely noticeable, but yet there is a decent chewy texture; it’s not watery or anything. Burny and fuelic on the finish, the lack of malt really comes alive. Almost thought it was brewed with rye, it was so damned dry and astringent and sort of nutty-chewy. Still, a good mouthfeel on a beer can satisfy me partially, even if the flavors are not really that exciting. Dosent cut it for the style, but then, I’m not convinced that this was brewed to any particular style.
