Popped into Craft Beer Base for my free drink ticket & to enjoy a half pint of Schooner Exact King Street Brown Ale. It pours a beautiful clear rich reddish brown. The nose is soft cocoa, candied raisins and nutty breadiness. A lively carbonation on a med-thin bodied clears the palate for flavors of nutty goodness with chewey chocolate raisin graham cookie notes. A satisfying brown which is saying something as the style tends to be overly sweet in my opinion.

First up is Hoppy Holidays a 7.5% winter ale that pours a deep reddish brown with a beige head. The aroma is malty caramel, a touch of fudge, some spice & hops. Medium-full body with a velvety smooth mouthfeel. The taste is solid chocolate, dark fruits, light spice and earthy hops. Good stuff at not at all what I was expecting. A really nice winter beer.

Medium brown color. Very malty nose with some nice nuttiness and chocolately character. The mouth is very malty, slighly tart with a lingering nuttty finish. Nice stuff.

UKH on tap at CBB in Osaka - pricey at 1200 yen! Schooner Exact Hoppy Woodsman pours a deep mahogany brown with a creamy tan head. It has a sweet woodsy oak aroma. The taste is great, a bit smokey, sweet whiskey, oak, vanilla and some coffee+dark chocolate. Smooth med-full body. Great, it’s well balanced and smooth drinking.

Flight at brewery. Dim gold color. This is the basic malty and hoppy IPA. Malt toss tines and moderate bitterness at the end. Not fancy here but good.

Flight at brewery. Light gold color, clear. Clean malts with light dank but mostly light green hops. Flavor is less clean, a bit soapy, hops aren’t as clear. I want the flavor to be more like the aroma.

On tap at Schooner Exact, pours a clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma is very dry, with piney hops, crackery malt, and light floral hops. Flavour is very clean, with piney and floral hops, and toasted crackery malt. Very light and clean for a IIPA, though well-balanced. Solid stuff, but a little underwhelming.

On tap at Schooner Exact, pours a clear amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of vinegary notes, sour berries, medium acidity, and Worcestershire sauce. - can smell this a long way away. Flavour is very sharp, with loads of vinegar and Worcestershire sauce upfront, with sour berries and medium-high acidity. Quite a palate wrecker, but quite nice in small doses.

On tap at Schooner Exact, pours a clear pale golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of piney hops and toasted crackery malt. Flavour is dry, with toasted crackery malt, astringent hops, and mineraly notes. Too mineraly, which is what usually annoys me about ISAs. Decent, but off the mark.

Flavour is rather unexciting, with red fruits, toasted malt and a touch of unsweetened cocoa. Not really what I'm looking for in a schwarz, but this is still pretty solid. Decent.
