Bottle pour into tulip glass from Manchester Wine and Liquors. Appearance is very dark brown with finger-width creamy light brown head with decent retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is rich chocolate, dark fruit, roasted coffee--maybe a little burnt. Taste is early sweet dark fruit and chocolate with late lightly bitter roasted coffee. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, nice aroma and taste--palate could be a little thicker to be more decadent, though there’s something strangely nice about full taste without being quite so filling.

Bottle in Japan, how the hell did this RI beer wind up here? Time for a coffee break but I don’t drink coffee so I’ll grab a coffee stout and read up on the style in this rainy Thursday. This is Revival Brewing Co.’s White Electric Coffee Stout 8.5% They seem to be imported through American Craft Beer Pantry which I’ve never heard of. I got it on Rakuten. Served in my stout glass it poured a deep black with a rusty tan head. The aroma is really good: big freshly ground coffee, some sweetness and a toffee type edge to it. Full bodied with a velvety mouthfeel that coats my tastebuds with bitter coffee goodness. You get a sweet coffee berry hit, then roasted coffee, tobacco leaf, leather and then just a bit of sweet chocolate syrup in the finish. This is delivering lots of coffee and it’s surprisingly complex. Worth trying but the 900¥ price tag means it’s more of an occasional treat.

Tap at DC Hama. Big chocolate and roasted coffee nose with some light pine notes. Herbal with some light mint and dillweed notes on the palate. Roasted cacao nib and pine notes. Coffee on the finish. Dark cacao and piney finish with light dillweed. Very nice.

Got in a BIF from tasterschoice62. 22 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, molasses, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, licorice, raisin, prune, light peat smoke, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, molasses, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, licorice, raisin, prune, light peat smoke, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, molasses, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, licorice, raisin, prune, light peat smoke, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and fruity yeast flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Russian imperial stout. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a typical hazy gold from a bottle. Big banana-y aroma, similar flavor with lots of clove, kind of a banner hefeweizen really. Good beer.

Pours a black from a bottle. Thin, watery coffee flavor. Chocolately, coffee aroma. Okay beer.

Bottle from Colonial Spirits Slightly hazy deep copper color with a decent sized bubbly off white head that persists. Big caramel maltiness with some light citrus to counter. Light mineral water and earthiness round this out. Solid old school pale ale.

Bottle from Colonial Spirits Slightly hazy deep gold with a smallish white head. Earthy sweet bread, banana and light clove with quite a hefty does of carbonation. Pretty good beer.

Bottle from Colonial Spirits Dark brown with a tan head. Earthy pine and citrus atop a lightly roasty chocolate sweet maltiness. That’s a pretty good black ipa right there.
