Description
Sixth generation headstrong Belgian true craft and traditional brewery, established in the early 1800's and on the same exact location were we are still today since 1859! Call us stubborn. But we are still a family with strong values. We still brew all our beers ourselves. We still use the original copper kettles. And we can guarantee our quality for at least another 150 years! We're headstrong. True craft brewers. And we're from Belgium!! These beers were not made in someone's garage as a hobby. For six generations, brewing is our family's passion. We do not follow hypes. We stay true to the craft. Without compromises on quality. And in this respect, you can call us stubborn.

Bottle. It pours a clear, brown body under a small, beige head. Lots of dried fruits on the nose, with some white sugar, a touch of ripe blue plums and yeast, and a spiced hint. Nicely carbonated, full-bodied, with some cellar. Mostly sweet, caramel and dried fruits Nutty notes. Sweet finish with dried fruits and some cellar. A quite nice beer, but it won’t raise any eyebrows. 100423

330 ml bottle. Dark golden with a moderate, dense off-white head. Quite weak aroma, some malt and caramel. Flavor has a light maltiness, some toffee, not much hops and less sweet than typical for a Belgium ale. OK, drinkable, but not very exiting – actually quite boring.

Bottle, 75cl. It pours a clear, reddish brown body and a tan head. Dried fruits, brown sugar and wort on the nose. Sweet flavor, but not as sweet as expected, fortunately. Dried fruits. It’s sticky in the mouth, but enough carbonated to make it feel smooth. Medium to full body. Sweet finish with dried fruits. Overall, quite drinkable, but I doubt I will again. 091025

25cl Bottle from Achelse Kluis. Slightly hazy yellow with lots of particles, white head. Aroma of sweet artificial lemon and some buttery notes. Flavour is sweet, light wheat, sweet lemons. Thin body. Doesn’t taste off, but this is just a weak offering imo.
