Description
Sixth generation headstrong Belgian true craft and traditional brewery, established in the early 1800's and on the same exact location were we are still today since 1859! Call us stubborn. But we are still a family with strong values. We still brew all our beers ourselves. We still use the original copper kettles. And we can guarantee our quality for at least another 150 years! We're headstrong. True craft brewers. And we're from Belgium!! These beers were not made in someone's garage as a hobby. For six generations, brewing is our family's passion. We do not follow hypes. We stay true to the craft. Without compromises on quality. And in this respect, you can call us stubborn.

Bottle that I picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Belgium, 31-10-09 consumed 15-12-09 Pours a really muddy puddle brown in fact nothing like the picture, this stuff is really murky and my careless pouring (though I didn’t realise I was being careless) has ensured that there is tons of sediment like a hundred million jellyfish swirling about in this. Aroma is of rough, raw cane sugar. Taste is rich, malty, spicy and with a good depth of flavour. Ok its a bit rough around the edges not least in the appearance but its most likeable, mollasses, a spicy peppery bitterness, if the aroma and appearance had of offered a bit more this could have been a really decent beer, as it is, it just pretty decent. Very dense & fine, light-yellow head over metallic-yellow beer. Dry-spicy, loam; lightly toasted malts, very discreet. Very dry-bitter flavour, strange vegetable bitterness, like celeriac, but less sweet. Again - loam. Well-attenuated, medium bodied, spritzy-burning at swallowing. Very special taste... but far from bad.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Clear brown ruby colour thick beige head. Bit of gravy browning on this dubbel. Some ok rich dryish malts. But if anything a bit too much on the malts and it makes it a bit sickly. Yes, it is almost as though not fully attenuated. I don’t think that is the case, but there is some definite puke in the malts though. Bit too gassy and not really my kinda dubbel. Prefer something much drier or more vinous.
