About
We’ve produced quality beers over the years by challenging and refining our craft, not by appeasing trends. Discerning taste, rolled up sleeves, and upholding our uniquely progressive ideals ensures our drinkers will appreciate Upland beers as much as we do. Many of our brews are unique twists on traditional recipes, while others are creations of our own imaginations. At our brewpubs and tasting rooms in Bloomington, Columbus, Carmel and Indianapolis, flavor, discourse, debate, laughter, and conversation flow as freely as our beer.

Upland Brewing Company was founded in 1997 by Marc Sattinger, Russ Levitt and Dean LaPlante. In 1998, distribution of bottles and kegs began and the brewpub opened its doors. In 2006, ownership changed hands to a group of local investors remains 100% family owned. In 2012, a new brewing facility and bar was opened on the west side of Bloomington which became the primary brewing facility for Upland,

Pours hazy gold. The aroma is of hop resin with some citrus. Flavor is led by resinous hops. There’s citrus underlying it and some malty sweetness. It’s medium bodied and alright, a pretty average hazy.

Bottled feb19. Gorgeous deep red, crystal clear, plenty of slightly pinkish head, sparkling. Smells bit sour, loads of sweet cherry. Sparkly body, light but lingering. Insane amount of cherry, fruity, sweet, pits. Light sourness, plenty wood, dry. Great!

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear gold with a finger of off-white foam that lingers. Lovely biscuit and light hoppy aromas. Smooth biscuit notes with light caramel and lingering pepper on the finish. Very good.

Tap at Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Dark ruby colour and small beige head. Sweet fruity, woody, spicey, not very strong nose. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Tartness, wood, red wine tannines, maybe some banana. Very delicate sour beer. Good.

18/VIII/21 - on tap @ Beer Temple (Amsterdam), BB: n/a (2021-862) Thanks to the misses for going on a beer tour with me!

Clear ruby red to red brown beer, little adhesive. Aroma: pretty sourish impression, little dirty, fermented strawberries, kiwi, overripe banana, very yeasty, weird stuff… MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: wow, mouth puckering acidity, very sour, pretty metallic as well, banana peel, lemony. Aftertaste: very sourish, burning acidity in the throat, vinegar notes, red currants, bitter finish, something funky, kiwi bitterness, very metallic, too harsh acidic and some weird off-flavours, not a fan of this weird shit.
