Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 04/27/2012. The beer pours a clear amber color with a medium frothy white head that burns away steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of fresh citrus, hops and malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character and flavors of citrus, malt and other sweeter fruits. The finish is fruity with a hoppy aftertaste. Above average organic IPA overall.

Bottle @ yespr. Pours a dark brown almost black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty bourbon barrel chocolate aroma with hints of vanilla. Sweetish malty bourbon and vanilla flavor with chocolate and toffee hints. Has a sweetish malty bourbon and vanilla finish.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark brown with a creamy/bubbly dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate, oak, bourbon/vanilla and something else that’s familiar, but I can’t pin it down. Full bodied. Flavor is very mixed chocolate/bourbon/vanilla with a fair amount of astringent oak. There’s noticeable heat, but it’s not annoying. Overall I can see why this might be referred to as spicy. Perhaps a little peppery. There’s a lot going on here.

pitch dark, small light brown head. very peaty and very roasted ,malty aroma. wood. quite extreme aroma. slightly spicy.sweet flavor is very sweet and loads of bourbon.
