Description
Omission is the first craft beer brand in the United States focused exclusively on brewing great tasting craft beers with traditional beer ingredients, including malted barley, specially crafted to remove gluten.

Brewed by Widmer Brothers Brewing, gluten levels in every batch of Omission beer are measured by the brewery and two independent labs using the R5 Competitive ELISA test to ensure that the beer meets the brewery’s standards.

14th May 2015: 12oz bottle into a La Chouffe badged stemmed tulip. Hazy amber pour, full, deep, white blanket of foam for a head. Hop lead in both the aroma and taste, bitter, yet balanced with a malt base which steadies the brew nicely. Decent stuff, gluten-free or not this is a very drinkable beer.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Boulder Liquor Mart. Clear, light yellow appearance with a white head. Twangy, lemon, guava, herbal, grassy nose. Light body. Moderate bitterness. Low sweetness. Tangy and tart. Bready, dull, lifeless flavor with just a little spice. Not as good as some of the other Omission releases.

Bottle. Golden, low offwhite head. Light fruity yeast notes, a bit flowery hops and light grassy hops, Kölsch-like. Medium light body, light spicy note in the finish. Fresh and pleasant.

12 oz bottle poured. Pours a soft cloudy yellow color with a patchy fizz head. Yay for first gluten free rating! (not counting ciders) This beer surprised the hell out of me. I’ve had gluten free beers before, and i think.. I didn’t enjoy them. I’m not going to call this beer great, but the amount of flavor came as a big surprise. A bit of a lemon fruitiness to the aroma. Flavor is sweet, with a slight spice and hop finish. This gluten free lager has more body and flavor than most pale lagers I’ve ever had. As a beer, this is average. As a gluten free beer, this is awesome. Quite impressed here.
