Description
Twisted Barrel Ale exploded onto the Coventry beer scene on 29th March 2014.

After months of hard work developing a small selection of beers that would appeal to Coventry's patrons thirsting for our unique mix of modern and classical styles and methods we launched our beers at Coventry's number 1 bottle bar, Inspire, and it was a huge success. Originally brewing on a 60 litre kit, we described ourselves as 'the UK's first Pico-brewery'.

20th June 2015 and we held another launch. This time in our brand new Brewery and Tap House at FarGo Village. With a new 1000 litre brewing kit and an entirely new brand design from Stewart Easton, we've finally become the brewery we always set out to be. Almost 2 years later we transferred our bar and brewing kit into a space about 5 times larger than before, we're still serving the best beer at FarGo Village.

Hand pulled half pint at the St Valentines Day Massacre Beer Festival in the Ludlow Brewery Railway Shed on 13th February 2026. Black with a beige roof. All a bit strange really, malty yes, marshmallow yes, pleasant and interesting NO. Didn't take to it at all.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Barman offered me a taster first - said they'd sold one pint in four days..... definitely a Golden Ale crowd in this pub. A murky opaque brown. Thin foamy beige head. Aroma has spice and berries. Flavourwise low key coffee and berries with more prominent but not particularly strong spice. Sweet with a sour edge. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Verging on creamy. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Boring but not overly spiced which would be more off-putting for me.

Appearance - amber and cloudy. Thin off-white head.
Nose - candy sugar and apple. Some banana esters and sweet wood spices.
Taste - banana and apple with toffee and then it dries into a bitter wood note.
Palate - light to medium bodied, sweet and then very bitter.

Draft at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Poured an unclear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, lemon citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a fresh, crisp, somewhat light, mineral, juicy lemon citrus palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.
