Description
Twisted Barrel Ale exploded onto the Coventry beer scene on 29th March 2014.

After months of hard work developing a small selection of beers that would appeal to Coventry's patrons thirsting for our unique mix of modern and classical styles and methods we launched our beers at Coventry's number 1 bottle bar, Inspire, and it was a huge success. Originally brewing on a 60 litre kit, we described ourselves as 'the UK's first Pico-brewery'.

20th June 2015 and we held another launch. This time in our brand new Brewery and Tap House at FarGo Village. With a new 1000 litre brewing kit and an entirely new brand design from Stewart Easton, we've finally become the brewery we always set out to be. Almost 2 years later we transferred our bar and brewing kit into a space about 5 times larger than before, we're still serving the best beer at FarGo Village.

440ml can from brewery at 4.5%. Very slight hazy gold, small white head. Aroma of citra hops evident with lemon, lime and herb notes, light grassy note. Taste of light pale malts, citrus, grapefruit, herbs, decent moderate long bitter with a chewy citrus finish. Light body but it coats the palate and is not watery, quite dry. Decent session IPA

330ml draft into a bottle from lowcostbeer @6.5%. Clear amber with small semi-creamy off-white head. Cats piss aroma with orange, stone fruit and herbs. Taste is a little disappointing at first with more of a sweet malty-orange backbone, some interesting floral resin chewiness, tropical notes emerge in the finish with a nice bitterness after a few sips. It does grow on you after a while. Body fuller than your average non-double IPA, nice carbonation. Decent.

440ml can @ 6%. Cloudy amber with big off-white fluffy head; certainly looks the part. That banana like creamy yeast note is very evident in the aroma with quite a bit of allspice. Toasty malts, quite sweet, spices, banana and light bitterness. Medium bodied, slightly chewy. Its a good attempt at the Belgium style, quite tasty although at 6% its almost like a session-dubbel!

Can from Connelly's Wine Merchants, online. Pours a murky purple with small pink tinged head, decent retention for a sour. Aroma of blackberries, blackcurrant, grains, light yeastiness, yoghurt. Semi-sweet. Taste is fruity tartness, yoghurt, oats, cereal, citrus zest. Semi-sweet, light bodied, dry finish, mild sourness. Needs more in the finish but its a good fruity beer.
