Bottle, at Cardinal. It pours a clear, dark golden body under a small beige head. Malty nose with some fruityness. Mostly bread and caramel though. Sweet, caramel flavor with citrus and fruits. Pinecones and citrus in the finish, with a nice bitterness. Medium to full body. A quite boring beer, completely lacking the Christmas feeling. Sure drinkable though. (081130)

Copper coloured body with a light tan head and a bunch of bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of fresh hops and a bunch of malt - nice. Medium-bodied; Assertive hops and a lighter malt coming through light fruits and a bit of nuts. Aftertaste is mild - not much coming through. Overall, a good beer - not amazing, but nice to try! I sampled this beer on cask at The Market Porter in Borough, London, England on 13-December-2008.

Cask Conditioned at The Castle, Furnival St., London, 3.9% ABV
Copper color, thin creamy head, nice lace. That aroma of sugars, that dry caramel flavor with a touch of vegetables… nothing special. Strong bitterness.

[Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading.] Mahogany with a thin tan head; earthy malt aroma; thin body, with earthy malt flavours and a hint of treacle and licorice; the finish is dry and lightly hopped. Rather light in body for a porter.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a slightly hazy deep golden with a handsome and lacing white head. Slightly rustic and unclean fruity nose. Light body with very perfumy accents - almost like a bar of soap - from the coriander. Dry and bitter finish. Quite fresh. 231208

500ml bottle from Centra Colosseum in Oslo. Pours an average off-white head, mostly lasting over a cloudy, amber body. Mild fruity aroma with hops. Harmonious taste of dry malts with hints of citrus fruits added by a discreet note of peppery spiciness, and finished with a nice dry bitter twist. Smooth in the mouth. Medium to thin bodied. A welcoming bitter in the evening after all the Yuletide sweetness [Tromsø, 28.12.2008].

Cask @ Wenlock Arms with Magic Dave6 and Mes. Clear golden color with a thin white head. Grass hops and coriander aromas. The taste is very hoppy with lots of coriander which for me was very noticeable. Dry bitter finish.

[Cask at Oakford Social Club, Reading] Gold with a moderate lasting white head. Faint carbonation. A hint of lemon, verging on lime. Some dusty hops. And just a mild gingery aftertaste leaving a rather sticky palatte. It all feels rather toned down and polite. Perfectly drinkable, but rather bland.

Biggish offwhite head. Hazy brown body with floaties. Harmonic fruity caramel and tea aroma with candy and hop notes. Dry-sweet wooden caramel taste with fruity herbal notes. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dry tart astringent wooden fruit aftertaste. Nice aroma, but taste is too tart for me. [0.5l bottle, Centra, Oslo.]
