Keg at the Cock Tavern - Hackney, London. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. Pleasant citrusy hops in the aroma, a bit of rind, pale bread. Medium sweet flavor with more rindy citrus, pale bread, tangerine, light piney bitterness, some melon, minerals, papaya. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly resinous to close, with some gooey citrus that’s dried out with some cleansing minerality, balanced with pale bread sugars. Just a little grass. A nicely compelling IPA.

Three Johns. Cask. Hazy amber beer with a few lonely pale cream colour bubbles. Palate is light and semi dry, low carbonation. Smooth dry malts, toffee and caramel. Modest ripe fruits. Little apple. Mild bitterness. A stodgy bitter, not short on taste but it feels like a throwback.

Cask at the Lyric - London. Pours clear yellow-gold with a white foam head. The nose holds grassy hops, pale bread, dry grain, lemon rind. Light sweet flavor with forward grass and pine bitterness, some pith and rind, biscuits. Light bodied with average carbonation; good condition. Moderately dry on the finish, with some hop oils, more bitter grass, citrus rind. Good, but perhaps a touch too bitter.
