This isn’t a beer I’ve had in a long time, so this isn’t as much a review as it is remembering the past.
I first had this beer on my 18th birthday at the now defunct Gamla Stans Bryggeri. For the mid 90s Sweden it was a small revolution and I don’ think anything as a brewpub like this had been seen in the country before.
Judged by the standards of today it would probably not stand up very well against the modern micro brews, but back then I found it rather drinkable and at least a step up from the macros.

Draught at "Gamla Stans Bryggeri" in Gamla Stan, Stockholm. Also tried it on bottles. It was a while ago, but the horrible taste still lingers in my memory. It was also strange that they didn’t sell any beer what so ever part from their own, not even on bottles. No wonder the bar wouldn’t stick around... Color was shady light straw with a small white head. Taste was sour and not enjoyable at all, couldn’t really detect any bitterness. This beer is why so many non-beer-knowledgable swedes still thinks "färsköl" is horrible and won’t drink it... I’m glad the place went out of business.

(Bottle 40 cl) Very beautiful, deep, dark, cloudy copper with a small, fine head. Malty, full-bodied with a nutty edge. Very discreet sweetness and ditto bitterness. Very harmonious and balanced brew of high drinkability. Comes in a lovely almost triangular swing top bottle. 310102

(Bottle 50 cl) Classical "Färsköl", hence unpasteurized and unfiltered. Cloudy, pale golden with a thin head. Soft freshness and a marked if not exactly dominating bitterness. 270700

Dough, tomato and pepper arome (weird that). Cloudy golden, some yeast floating around. Tastenotes of oranges, ginger with a yeasty edge. Sparkly mouthfeel. Lightish body.

A hazy yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet wheaty and so is the flavor, while the body is thin.

Dark amber color; poor head. Strong caramel aroma; light roasted malt and Madeira. A light sweetness in the front, dryer later and more balanced by the bitterness. An absolute caramel character and nothing else.

Sampled draught at Ardbeg Room, Stockholm.
Sadly this is the last beer from Stockholms only brewpub. It is now closed due to lack of interest from the mega-rich owners. Equipment and skilled brewers are rumoured to be going up north. The beers is clear ruby with firm head. It has a light flowery aroma, and is sweet, clean and rounded. There's some caramel, but not much else going on. The finish is drier with only a hint of bitterness. Having released a wonderful pils and a weizen earlier this years, this was disappointingly tame. I will refrain from paying a single penny to any company in the MTG group in the future, you greedy bastards.

Golden, somewhat hazy colour. Medium head. Hoppy aroma. Fruity apricot-flavour. Hoppy finish.
