Bottle. Almost clear amber with a large loose off-white head that collapses to a coat. Aroma of floral honey, biscuits, some spices. Moderately sweet with honey, biscuits and mild spices. Thinnish bodied, but crisp and very quaffable. Falls away quite quickly at the finish.

From a 330ml bottle on 17/6/2011. Pours mahogany with a modest head. Has a nice chocolatey aroma. The flavours are relatively subtle - some roasted malt, milk chocolate, a touch of vanilla, and some smokiness. The bitterness is mild, the body medium. Quite enjoyable without being anything special.

From a 330ml bottle on 9/6/2011. Pours a slightly murky copper colour with a medium head. The aroma has a quite a bit of yeast, citrus, tea and spices. Taste wise, it’s relatively straight forward - a bit fruity, with notes of lemon and spices, and a bit of bready malt. The bitterness is medium. Not bad but not notable.

Bottle, 11C. Dark brown with a light tan head that fades to less than a coat. Mocha aroma with good vanilla and grass. Light bodied with some silkiness from the oats. Taste is dominated by coffee and vanilla, some caramel, chocolate and grass. Slight astringency from roasted malt. Perhaps warmer next time. A little too insubstantial, but nice coffee and vanilla.

Pours coppery brown with a large, lasting head.Nose shows caramel, nutty malt, bananas and spicy, floral hops.Nice, uncomplicated.Similar flavours, lots more nutty malt and spicy hops. Finishes with a well-balanced bitterness.Too much carbonation.

Pours dark coppery ruby with a small head.Nose shows chocolate, caramel, nutty malt and vanilla. Nice stuff.Similar roasty characters as flavours with more nutty malt and noticeable coffee. Certainly on the roasty side of the amber ale style.Body feels watery.

Pours black with a small fading dark tan head.Nose shows big chocolate and vanilla with roasted malt in the background. Very nice.Less complex flavours, there is a little chocolate and coffee but then it quickly falls flat.Carbonation is to high, body too watery.

From a 330ml bottle on 14/11/2010. Pours a cloudy amber, with lts of yeast sediment swirling about. Just a slight malty, basement like aroma. The taste is primarily malty, with a little citrus fruitiness. Doesn’t have a lot of sweetness, and not much caramel or toffee in the flavour. Has a medium and quite firm bitterness. I can’t see this one rocking anyone’s world.
