A very nice NEIPA. Aromas of mango, passionfruit, pineapple, grapefruit and honey. Similar taste, nice length. Picked up at Crown Cellars bottle shop in Launceston (they have an incredible range of Tassie beers).

A nice pale ale. The old style English hops give it a point of difference, though there are certainly west coast elements to it as well. The aroma has flowers, biscuit, apple, strawberry and lemon. The taste has quite a bit of spice and a little raisin as well as some citrus. Very enjoyable.

(Can) Pours clear amber brown with small off white head. Lovely fruity hoppy aroma although I could not detect oak. Medium bodied with plenty of soft carbonation. Great taste. Fruity start followed by some subtle toffee malt and then a gathering hoppy bitterness that builds to a strong finish. I don’t think I would have identified oak if I wasn’t looking for it as it seems to me perhaps hidden by the big hoppy bitterness. However there are notes especially in the finish as the bitterness subsides. Pleasant XPA.

2018 bottle. Slight gusher. Almost clear gold with a resilient white head. Brusque aroma of somewhat cleaning product-like lemon, white peaches with scorched skins, singed grain. Very high carbonation - a mouthful of bubbles for a while. Slightly sour, a bit smoky, a bit fruity and with a twiggy spice-like Brett character at the end. Interesting & a bit confronting.

Bottle. Somewhat hazy straw gold with a fat coat of white head. Aroma of brusque lemon, the laundry, some nectarine, bracken and oak. Light, slightly slippery, lowish carbonation. Sour with laundry funk and plainer hay-like malt behind. Lemon, nectarines and apricot stones that lead the fruity middle to the woody end. Gueuze-adjacent. Good.

Bottle, 375ml. Not quite clear amber with a 1/2cm white head. Aroma is funky with dried grapefruit rind, oak, bracken, plums, unruly grassland, some medicinal notes. Somewhat slippery, quite fizzy. Fruitier taste than aroma with plum skin, little apricots, citrus rind. Dry finish is slightly astringent as well as woody. Another bold and interesting one from Van Dieman - a much hyped brewer in my niche - but not as harmonious as it could be (not that you could be sure there's fruit in it). It has the structure to hang about a while, so perhaps it will develop further.

Bottle. Gold with a large lasting white head. Aroma of crackery dough, orange, lime and lemon - zest and syllabub. Some herbal notes. Light bodied, fizzy. Crackers and oranges offer a little initial sweetness but dries out with modest bitterness. Perhaps a little heavy on the lemons but they are lovely and dovetail nicely with other citrus notes (I guess from esters and hops). Another good saison from Van Dieman.

From a 330ml can on 18/4/2019. Pours a clear amber with a smallish head. The aroma is toasty and malty, with a hint of caramel. The taste is relatively sweet - again malty, with caramel, toast and a hint of brown sugar. The hops are fairly gentle but work well in the circumstances. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very well put together and enjoyable, albeit a not particularly hoppy red.

From a 330ml can on 13//2019. Pours a super clear golden with a medium head. Has a slightly herbal, fruity aroma. Taste wise, there's some caramel and biscuit malt and lots of sweet citrus and stone fruit. It finishes with a strong, somewhat resiny, and almost chemical bitterness. The texture is a touch syrupy and the carbonation moderate. My kid brother really rated this but it's a bit too sharp and rough at the back for mine.

Can. Cloudy yellow with a loose white head. Aroma of funky oranges, damp wheat, overripe pineapple. Lightish bodied and surprisingly soft with a little creaminess. Highish carbonation. Light crackers, fleshy oranges, some spices. Not all that sweet to begin with, finish is very gently bitter. Good beer even before you consider the low alcohol.
