Schooner on tap at The Record Crate, Glebe. Faint fruit nose. Golden bronze beer with thin white head. Laces well. Many tiny bubbles. Thin body, nutty taste. Subdued nutty hop finish. Standard quaffer.

Pint on tap at Basement Brewhouse. Malty, bready, fruity nose. Cloudy amber beer with thin white head. Bitter and refreshing. Chalky with cashew nut and bittersweet orange finish. Good beer, very bitter for a golden ale but goes down easy.

Bottle. Amber with a small beige head that lasts OK. Aroma of pine and toffee, maybe some tropical fruit. Lowish carbonation. Sweet caramel, peach, tropical fruit - or maybe it’s just caramel really. Some citrus, a decent resinous whack of pine. Fairly strong bitterness. Tastes a little cleaner and lighter than expected from the aroma, all the more surprising because there’s not much in the way of zesty hop aromatics. After a while the bitterness really winds up.

Bottle, 11C. Amber with a white head. Aroma of kumquat marmalade, dried mango, sticky bread crusts. So it tastes, at least until zestier citrus notes emerge as it dries out a little at the rather bitter finish. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. On the heartier end of things but the hops shine in a brooding sort of way. Good.

Pours dark amber with a quickly fading head.Sweet-smelling aroma, with big pear confectionery notes and a little caramel.Similar flavours, more artificial pear notes and a bit of a herbal earl grey hit.
