Bottle. Clear black (actually very dark red) with good beige head. Pleasant rather subtle chocolate aroma. Medium light body with lovely mouthfilling carbonation. Unusual and pleasant flavour. Rich sweet toffee start quickly moves to chocolate malt. The finish is quite surprising in that it has a refreshing fruity character and almost no bitterness. Overall this is a very nice dark beer that manages to balance the rich chocolatey flavours with an overall refreshing quality.

Bottle, 11C. Dark brown with a modest beige head that laces nicely. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, a little roasted malt, cloves, cinnamon, cardamon. Fairly thin mouthfeel with some oaty smoothness. Light milky chocolate sweetness with vanilla overtones. No hard-roasted bass note. Mild spiced bitter finish with noticeable astringency that creeps up as you drink it. This is mostly a showcase for the really good chocolate and it’s an elegant and subtle drop.

Tap at Biero.Pours amber with a small fading head.Nose shows faint hops with floral and fruity characters alongside soft sweet malt.Similar flavours, herbal spicy hops first, then sweet clean malt and a mild bitterness.Carbonation is a little high.

Pours gold with a sudsy head.Nose shows a fair whack of grassy hops with hints of lemon also showing. Other than that, very little.Flavours include some soft floral hops and a little sweet biscuity malt. Pretty good for a low alcohol beer!Carbonation is very high, a bit annoying actually, although I suppose it’s necessary with light beers.

Bottle. Gold with an inch of white head that fades to a good coat. Aroma of grain, earth and mild spice. Light grainy malt with good spicy bitterness. A little lemon. Nothing fancy but very solid.

From a 330ml bottle on 16/12/2010. Has a faint aroma of grass and dirty dishwater. In the mouth, you get mild, line and length malt flavours and a modest hop finish. An unremarkable and bland beer, which is only slightly more drinkable than a macro pale lager.

Light amber with a small but dense cream head. High bead. Aroma has honey, butterscotch, grass and a touch of chocolate. Taste is very mild, with gentle sweetness and bitterness that is just implied by the slightly less sweet finish. There’s nothing in particular I disliked about it, it’s just a very dull beer.

Bottle. Pours honey gold with a white head. Grainy aroma with just a little citrus. Tastes sweet with honey and vague hints of peaches, oranges and apples. There’s balancing bitterness and a little sourness too. Finish seemed increasingly nicely hopped as I drank. Nothing special, but this would slip down a treat on a hot Mildura night.

From a 330ml bottle on 7/3/2010. This seems more of a golden ale than an APA to me. Has a decent citrus fruit aroma, which translates to the flavour, with the Amarillo hops giving it refreshing, summery feel (it has a touch of the Squire’s Golden Ale to it). Not a great beer, but above average and eminently drinkable.

Bottle. At the yellow end of the orange spectrum. Milky in opaquness. Smooth blend of flavours. Not overly citrussy with sufficient malt to drag it away from any witbeer leanings. Well worth trying another one.
