An old school WCIPA. Aromas of melon, pine, biscuit, caramel and toast. Similar flavours with the pine and caramel dominating. Picked up at Crown Cellars bottle shop in Launceston (they have an incredible range of Tassie beers).

(On tap) Clear golden, tiny white head. Aroma is citrus with biscuit notes. Light body with plenty of soft carbonation. Taste has a tangy refreshing start but then falls rather flat in the muddle with some bitterness in finish. It’s ok.

At the time this was just called a distortion pedal. Bottle. Amber with a coat of beige head. Aroma of bread crust, pine, some orange. And so it tastes - medium bodied, low carbonation, sweet with caramel before gentle fruit and pine ooze out towards a modestly bitter finish.

Bottle. Pretty much clear gold with a small white head. Left some sediment in the bottle - who knows whether that's the right thing to do with this. Aroma is fruity, wheaty and grainy with some spices. Has a real estery bite (fruit w apricot and banana, then spicy w cloves and white pepper) without the softness of a hefe and with a decisive bitter finish. Maybe a hint of metal.

Bottle. Gold with a white head. Aroma of bitter oranges, passionfruit, weeds, crackers, some cardboard. Light bodied, moderate carbonation. Taste follows the aroma. Bitterness is pretty low and for me it needed to snap a bit more. Old?

Schooner on tap at Gunners Arms, Launceston. Hazy amber beer with thin white head. Lazy light carbonation. Nose of malt and fruit. Refreshing mineral mouthfeel. Finish is lightly bitter with hints of fruit sherbet. Laces well. Still not quite sure what an ’XPA’ is, but this is delicious.

Draught @ Gunner’s Arms, which seems to a be a reliable outlet for this beer (though not for any other Tassie craft beer). Hazy amber. Thick head. Earthy hop aroma. Has a nice mellow bitterness and easy-going but hop forward character. Touch of yeastiness,m. Tasted blind you’d be like "hoppy EPA", but it’s a good beer.
