Description
Westside Ale Works is a family-owned and operated craft brewery tucked away on Alfred Street in South Melbourne. Partner and Head Brewer, Casey Wagner, pays homage to the microbreweries of the U.S. West Coast with everything he does - from the cozy atmosphere of our warehouse-style taproom to the hop-driven beers he brews. We take pride in creating a warm and welcoming experience for anyone who walks through our big roller door!

Can from brewery, packaged three weeks ago. Slightly opaque amber. Pine needles on nose. Some tropical flavours, but it's resin and malt that predominate. Nicely bitter. I'm happy.

Westside is perhaps 30 seconds drive from the Montague St Bridge so if you picked this up from the brewery you'd barely have time to knock the top off before you knocked the top off. Can. Opaque orange with a white head that fades slowly. Aroma of peach, nectarines, a little grapefruit, crackers. Just slightly chalky. Fruity with the citrus gradually creepy up to and then past the stone fruit. A little of both bitterness and astringency. The 8% ABV is well hidden until a whiff right at the end. Still, a pretty good one.

Can from brewery. Gold. Cloves and banana aroma. The Belgian vibe is strong with this one, but I reckon you can suck the milkshake bois into this being a banana bubblegum fest and they'd go all giddy with excitement too.

Can from brewery. Hazy gold. Peach nose. Stone fruit aplenty and citrus. Very on point, although much more green bitterness than most Aussie NEIPAs.

Pours dark amber almost brown with a small off-white head.Nose shows grapefruit and resinous hops, burnt caramel and soft bready malt, a bit of an overripe apple note too.Flavours include more bready malt, toasty malt, caramel, as well as a load of piny hops. More of the apple-like twang overpowers things though.

Very full can. Black with a tan head. 3+ Aroma of mocha - mainly dark chocolate - cream, roast, spices. Silky with medium low carbonation. More coffee in the taste with spices and bread mingling before a quite bitter finish. Very good - drinkable weight, no tricks, lovely balance. Hope this will become a seasonal.
