Bottle. Mr. Pickles, Sheffield. Dark, cola brown. Ring, and film, of dense, tan head. Leggy in the glass. Nose has sweet, dark vine fruits. Treacle. Bonfire toffee. Baked apple. Fudge and vanilla. Smells good. Taste is vine fruit sweet. Some dark chocolate, roast malt bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Feels a bit thin. Dry, vinous bitter finish. Very easy drinking at the ABV, but does lack some body. Overall, though, this is very tasty gear.

Bottle. Beeches of Walkley, Sheffield. Murky, pale gold. Ring of off white head. Nose has pale, bready malts. Damp grain. Soft herb. The bay is quite apparent. Just a hint of lemon. Lots of saison yeast character. Taste is bready sweet. Mouthfeel is a little thin, with foamy carbonation. Finishes soft sweet. Overall, it’s sweet and yeasty, and has little depth. A work in progress maybe.

Bottle. Mr. Pickles, Sheffield. Very dark brown. Head sets off noisy and bubbly, before receding to a film of light brown. Nose has milk chocolate. Light roast coffee. Hint of vanilla. Some vine fruit. As it warms it gets fudgy and brown sugar sweet. Hint of almond, too. The biscotti character is nailed on. Taste is soft, milk chocolate sweet. Some vine fruit dryness. Nice enough mouthfeel, but is let down by having too much carbonation. Finish gets a little earthy, roast bitter, that balances the earlier sweetness nicely. Cracking beer overall, although the fizz does detract a bit.

Bottle split at CCii, thanks to evil unpronounceable, 05/03/16. Light black with a moderate tan covering. Nose is coffee grinds, light charr, chocolate biscuit, pinch of spice. Taste comprises rich coffee strokes, dark malt, roasty, hint of liquorice, chocolate, light peppery spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with an espresso linger. Decent coffee porter.

Bottle split at CCii, thanks to Dave Unp, 05/03/16. Murky orange yellow with moderate off White spotting. Nose is tart fruit, citric tang, puke, yoghurt notes. Taste comprises light pineapple chunks, tangy lemon, light wood, hay, grain. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light puckering notes. Ok simple sour, nothing I’d rush back to but drinkable none the less.

Bottle. Turner’s, Sheffield. Hazy, amber colour. Thick, dense, lasting, just off white head. Looks great. Nose has spicy, light herbal hop. Notes of fusty, overripe orange. Background, bready malts. Taste has a soft sweetness, turning spicy, light bitter. Crisp mouthfeel. Fine, but lively carbonation. Soft bitterness on the finish, that dries out right on the end. Potentially great, but lacking a bit of hoppy punch, for me.
