A deep dark brown Bock with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, banana esters, light cloves and chalky notes, alcohol warmth, OK. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, dark fruits, plums, chalky character, light alcohol warmth, pleasant. On tap at brewery.

Dark brown. The aroma has some phenols to go with a light roast character. Light body, with a mellow fudgey element. Overall, though, it’s light and without much nuance. Disappointing.

Hazy and pale. No thin. Really yeasty on the nose. Light estery, hint of bubblegum, fairly yeasty. So on the palate, not all that great.

Hazy, light amber. No head. Soapy, sharply bitter, with vague caramel. A bit alcoholic. The elements aren’t coming together, mostly because there isn’t much in the way of hop brightness, something that is necessary to pull this style of beer together.

Gold colour, bright, but with no head. Really wonky paint-like phenols, with floral action. Not actually that good - has some bitterness, maybe a lemon/spice note, but nothing is really coming together all that well. Too sweet and lacks the quality hop that I want in an IPA.

355mL can, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of oats and a touch of dry coffee. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of oats upfront, followed by light coffee and earthy notes. Nice and lean on the body, but robust at the same time. Solid.

355mL can, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out floral notes, saison yeast, and some fruity esters. Flavour brings out saison yeast, light fruity esters and cereal notes. Actually fairly authentic for a North American saison. Not overly complex, but it's quite nicely constructed. Decent stuff.

355mL can, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of butter, light hop resins and toasted caramel. Flavour is herbal and buttery, with spicy hops and toasted bread. Not too disastrous, but this needs some serious fixing.

355mL can, pours a hazy copper golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out piney hops and light tropical fruitiness. Flavour is along the same lines, with piney hops, light fruitiness and dry biscuity malt. Pretty simple, but nicely constructed. Pleasant.

Can: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a nice light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with light dry cereal notes also noticeable. Taste is a mix of dry caramelized malt notes with some cereal notes and light dry finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed Doppelbock with great balance.
