Caramel and some peat. Hazy brown pour with decent head. Light sweetness with some bitter oak in the finish. Can.

Quite dull, flat looking, no head. Ick, really. Sort of a sweaty yeast nose with a bit of lime. Moderate tartness, some salt, lime, lemon, it's all pretty messy. Not much cohesion to speak of. So while the elements aren't bad individually, the sum of the parts leaves a fair bit on the table.

Good deep brownish copper body, strong visible carbonation, okay beige foam but the density is lacking. Okay yeasty caramel aroma, but no depth there and seems a bit musty. Taste is chewy molasses, dark caramel notes, ending yeasty yet smooth. Not bad, a little bit of a blunt instrument. Maybe that's what they mean when they said wee heavy.

June 16, 2025 (5/3/3/3/7=2.1): Poured from the tap @ Townsite (filled out my flight - figured I'd give it one more try in case my Mar 2022 try had dirty lines; spoiler: nope!). Opaque pale blonde with small white head. Grassy hops, mild dry astringent apple note permeates, something definitely off here.

March 08, 2022 (5/3/5/3/11=2.7): Poured from the tap. Hazy orange gold with small white head. Caramel malt, floral berry, touch of wet cardboard, hint of alcohol.

Dark amber. Slight haze. Medium head. The aroma has some caramel, and is a bit estery. On the palate, it's got a decent shot of alcohol up front, white sugar and maybe a faint caramel. Definitely not the rounded dark malts I'd prefer here. Good body. Again, light ester profile.

Dark brown. Medium head. Lots of orange on this one; it's pretty artificial tangeriney kind of orange. On the palate, it's got a bit of sweetness, decent chocolate, and the orange is a bit more restrained. Decent, really, given that it's not my favourite combination of flavours. Probably Perfect Storm base, which has to help.

On tap. May be a different beer as referred to as a chocolate orange stout and definitely not coming across as Black Forest. Pours black with short head. Aromas of cola and roasted malts. Flavors of roasted malts and black coffee with a slight orange rind influence.

Medium head. More of a trub look but it was the end of the keg. There’s alcohol up front, really a lack of malt base…it’s thin. Bittering comes across lower than expected, especially given low residual sugars. Light fruity hop aromatics. Sort of on style, but certainly not hitting the high notes I’d want, and lacks the right sense of balance.

Poured from the tap. Hazy dull gold with small white head. Mild passionfruit, hint of salt, lacto. Has a bit of that cheap kettle sour vibe, but gets away with it being passionfruit. Could be better.
