This pils poured a yellow colour with a non existant head. Scents include dough/yeast...and thats about it. First sip was not bad but lacked originality. Typical flavour for a pilsner. A little to carbonated but not bad.

Pours a rich dark amber color with a thin bone white head that was gone almost instantaneously. Spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel and malt. Medium-bodied with equal parts malt and fruit flavor. The alcohol is suprisingly hard to detect in the flavor. The sweet malt is pretty consistent throughout. The finish is smooth and sweet, with a mild burnt malt aftertaste. Could be better, but still a bit above average.

The last scotch ale I drank was McEwans and I didn’t care for that one so I am not too excited about this one. I wish Erie would put on the label what kind of beer it was, that would help me choose the ones I like instead of it being a mystery beer. I don’t carry around my computer when I’m in the store so I can’t look up the beer on the spot. This was a 12 oz brown bottle and on the front it said Red Ryder Big Beer, not ale. Pours almost brown but transparent. Taste reveals hoppy and sweet, very unrefined. Seems to be a bit to alky for me. Terribly offensive taste (just like McEwans!) Finish is like drinking bitter cough medicine. Will not buy again because I don’t like Scotch ales. However, if Scotch ales are your thing, you better try it out because it really is a good scotch ale!

I wish that beers would say what style they are. It turns out that heritage ale is a porter, who’d have known? The bottle is dark and it says ale. Brown 12 0z bottle. Hey, the E in ale is actually a T if you look closely this means it is really an Alt! Pours very dark transp[arent brown and red. Smells like a roasty stout or porter. Expecting bitterness on the taste buds but it is mysteriously missing. Has a citrusy orange or candy hint in there too. I want to say this is complex but I am not qualified to do so. Finish is a tad hoppy/malty with a less than medium bitter linger. If you like porters or mild stouts you better seek this out.

I read that bohemian pilsners are bitter, hope not. Pours like a pale yellow american lager in my steeler stein. Aroma of some wet grain and clear dishwater. Begins the flavor with a farely light impression. Taste is acceptable and no alcohol shows thru, it shouldn’t at 4%. Very easy to drink one after another. Fine prickly bubbles in the average carbonation. Barely any offense, if any on the clean finish. Typical pale yellow american beer? Fortunately, not as bitter as I was anticipating. Rates right up there with lionshead pilsner. Much better than Pilsner Urquell.

Brown 12 oz bottle. I never expected this quality from Erie. When I purchased it, it looked like some kind of clear ale. But when I poured it into my steeler stein it was cloudy light brown. Aroma of a little skunk and then its yeasty vegatables. Has some hints of citrus in the initial taste bud hit. The bottle has a layer of tan muck in the bottem. This is a pretty good effort and I think it’s better than Penns Hefe. I’m glad I tried this, I almost passed it by in favor of some other beer. Worth a try, get some. Not too many beer tasters have rated this one.

This ale poured a cloudy orange colour with a off white foamy head. Sour to the nose, slight vomit scent. If you can get past that you might get a little hop and some grassy notes. first taste is a bitter musty??? taste. Very malty flavoured with a little bread flavour. Finish is bitter with lingering hops. Thick feeling on the palate.

This ale poured a light orange colour with a frothy white head. To the nose orange/grapefruit citrus, dough and a little but of floral notes. First taste is a smooth hoppy flavour with a bitter finish. More citrus to the palate. Hops linger.

Sampled on draft at Rivertowne Pub in North Huntingdon PA this beer poured a dark copper color with a huge orange-white head. The aroma is light and sweet fruity hops. The flavor is sweet, malty, nutty, yeasty and has a moderate floral and fruity hop presence. The finish is dry and bitter. Pleasant and fairly easy drinking.

First new erie brewing beer. Drank erie long time ago before it closed down and was revitalized. Very interesting label. Dark but not opague in my steelers mug. Pretty decent dark beer. Slight initial bitter hit with a medium lasting bitter after taste and finish. Smooth for it’s alky content.
