12oz bottle pours deep gold with thin white head. The aroma is full and fruity sweet with pears, apples and some ripe apricot to go along with a touch of yeasty spice. The taste is smooth and grainy malts cutting slowly into pears, apples and a mild level of spiciness. It gets a touch blunted tartness toward the finish to add some interest and balance.

12 oz. bottle, pours a vibrant golden amber with a big beige head. Aroma of caramel, cinnamon, brown sugar and alcohol. Flavour is heavy and very sweet caramel malts, oak, vanilla, with a bitterness than lingers later. Oily texture, rich palate.

Delicious. Pours mahogany brown with medium head. Much ringed lacing. Malty aroma with peat smoke. Full peaty flavour all over the mouth with some roast notes. Finish lasts forever, half an hour later and I am still tasting it.

12oz bottle pours clear copper – gold with thin white head. Does the “mountain” part of this amber prevent it from attaining an amber color? This is the goldest amber I’ve ever seen. The aroma is sweet malts mixing with caramel malts and a touch of biscuit and toffee. The taste has some modest yet vague to maybe pine hoppy notes blending with caramel malts, sweet sugary malts and a touch of roastiness. I think I get a sense of citrus into the finish. Interesting interpretation.

12oz bottle pours deep clear copper with white head. The aroma has roasted malts, some caramel as well as notes of dark fruity esters mixing with chocolate, actually lots of chocolate. The taste nice fairly rich and loaded up with chocolate rimmed with notes of caramel maltiness. By midway some roasty malts join in as well as a mild background of dark fruitiness. Nice tasting beer put I think some notes pull it a bit out of style (which isn’t a big deal to me). Enjoyed it.

Tasting at Papsø
Hazy amber color; small creamy head. The aroma shows some sweetish caramel, light vanilla oak, sweat, very light cheese. Caramel flavor, partially sweet, clearly nutty, but not as sweet as expected; strong bitterness, stronger than the malt actualy. Not a typical Barley Wine by style, but still an enjoyable beer.
