Draft at brewpub. Dark brown-black, big foamy head. Roast coffee aroma. Roast malt taste. Medium body. Smoother than other black IPAs I have tried.

Sampled my wife’s draft at brewpub. Super-sized hoppy aroma that I could smell across the table when the server brought our beers. Bright, amber-orange. with medium head. Sweet grapefruit. Not as bitter as I expected.

Draft in snifter at brewpub with a meal. Light brown-gold with hint of red; little head. One-dimensional Belgian yeastiness, but not bad. A full-bodied ale that drinks like a session beer.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, roasted malt, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, alcohol, and wood, leading to a dry, roasted, and alcoholic finish.
