We started out in 1996 as a small group of San Diego home brewers who simply wanted to make a better beer. In our exploration, we became obsessed with ingredients—tinkering, testing and tasting to find the perfect balance of taste and aroma. Black with a red hue, and a lasting off-white head. Some chocolate in the aroma with unusual hops for a porter giving peach and other fruity notes - this is distinctly American hops, and they work well with the soft chocolate. Rather dry with a friendly chocolate and licorice flavour. There is a burnt note in the finish and aftertaste. Hop flavour stays in the background but there is clearly a lot of hop bitterness for a porter.

22 oz bottle purchased at Texas Liquors in Carlsbad, California. Pour is a black ruby, hazed with a one inch thick khaki head. Nice lacing etches the glass. Aroma is bright cane sugar sweetness, roasted malt and alcohol heat. As it warms, sweetness rounds out a bit with some dark chocolate. Taste is the nose, though roast malt is more prominent, and there is a nice char to it. Pretty sweet. Palate medium to thin bodied for style, alcohol not terribly present, sweet carries the finish. Liked it better this time around. 7,4,7,3,14 (3.5)

22 oz bottle shared by heemer77. Pour is black, slightly cloudy, with thinnish off white head. Aroma of stale coffee, chemical wax sweetness, and honey sweetness. Taste is the dusty coffee, roast maltiness, and bright pine hoppiness. I enjoyed the taste, certainly better than I enjoyed the nose. Thanks for sharing this one Eric. 5,4,8,3,13 (3.3)

Bomber from VinensVerden, Odense. Pours nearly black with a small creamy brown head and lacings. Nose is roasted coffee and chocolate. Somehow moderate and very inviting. Very smooth and soft palate. Taste has chocolate, coffee and a hint of dark fruits. Vague ashy notes. Well balanced and overall super drinkable!

12oz bottle. Murky brown orange color. Malty sweet aroma. Full of hop citrus hop flavor, with a solid toasty malt bill to back it up. This is really quite an excellent IPA, not overbearing in alcohol, excellent cool and crisp aftertaste. Well balanced, lots of hop and malt character. Great IPA.

Thanks to SWolf3 for this one! Pours with a clear gold body under a tall, long-lasting white head. This has a marvelous grapefruit and pine aroma. The malts are there too. Sweet grapefruit that quickly moves into a smooth hop bitterness that lasts into the long finish. Great IPA!

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Sort of a bright copper color with a decent off-white head. Mixed aromas of grapefruit and tropical fruits. Near medium body with medium carbonation. Flavor is sort of grapefruit mango over lightly roasted caramel. Bit of a bitter hop burn in the finish. Astringent too. This is a really super drink.

Bottle. Ruby-black beer with a tan head. Chocolate, caramel aroma with light vanilla. Roasty, coffee, chocolate flavor with light hops, molasses, and brown sugar. Fuller bodied. Roasty, coffee, chocolate lingers with molasses.

Draft. Amber beer with a whitish head. Grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor with light mineral and malt, and a bit of summer fruit. Medium bodied. Nice bitterness. Grapefruit and summerfruit lingers with a bit of malt.

Bomber from South Bay Drug. Opaque brown/black color with a decent dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate, dark fruit and coffee. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is rather sweet, heat, dark fruit and coffee. Some chocolate as well. The heat seems to calm down after a bit. Good drink. Rerate: Bottle shared by Marcus. Dark brown/black color with purple edges. Slight tan head. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is burnt malt, brandy, and very slight treacle. Slight sour touch perhaps in the finish. Overall excellent. No significant change in numbers. Good brew.

Hazy yellow with a medium white head. Sweet aroma with notes of whaet and yeast. Sweet flavour with sour milk, grain and yeasty notes. Sourish finish.
