Slight gushing to yellow, creamy head. Deep-amber colour. Nose is alcohol and fruit (in a whiff). Raisins. Reminds me of the nose of German Eisbock, but fruitier. Quite candi-sugar taste (dryness to boot). Spritziness gets some acidity by the carbonation. Walloon metallic tang, completed by some hopbitterness. Flavour of different ripe fruit (apricot, yellow apple, raisins) covered in caramel sauce. Dry, very. Alchol-metallic tang gets second impulse after some time, less pleasing in replay. Remarkable. Has characteristics of several different styles. This seems to become more and more typical for Brasserie Meynsbrughen - de Silly.

Explosive gushing to very thick white head, fast collapsing. Clear yellow beer (no haze, yeast all clinging to the bottom). Nose is coriandre, perfumey, slight citus, flowery, lemon mushrooms. Taste is extremely perfumed and liquorice. Very outspoken coriandre, very slight tartness. Not very wheaty, though. Light bodied. Not very refreshing. very perfumed witbier. Definitely tasted different from the Blanche de Nice (75cl), but - this bottle here says 5.0 % ABV...

Slight gushing to thick, yellow-brown head. Dark brown beer with deep red shine. Beer has a nose of halogenes (chlorine, iodine, bromine,...), maybe cypress too. Dark malts and alchol. In taste, again some weak flavour of halogene desinfectant and conifer aroma. Some madeirisation and higher alcohols. Sweet underbuild, no bitterness. Higher alcohols seem to show, but only slight warming effect betrays the 8 ABV. Reasonably full-bodied. Quite nice - once one is over the initial halogene aroma in taste and smell. This might be a one-off mistake. But I seem to be missing some bitterness from roasted malts, for this style.

Dark yellow, hazy. Medium head, white-yellow, going down lacy. Faint brandy- and cocos-nose, some chalk. Fairly alcoholic, honey too. Quite bitter immediately. Esterish, slightly nutty and buttery, but no diacetyl. Then plain sweet, but with herbal background. A bit galvanic mouthfeel. Medium-bodied, slick. A new, perfumey taste arrives after half a minute, difficult to pinpoint. Herbal, and alcoholic. Somehow nicer than the brune. Oxidation less apparent, despite same BBdate.

??Beer is orange-amber, not brown. Clear. Slight yellow head, reasonably stable. Nose is nutty, slight madeirisation. Taste starts with bitterish-sharp beginning, nutty madeirisation, and quite sweet base. Slight acidity (liquor?), going into retronasal faint lemony finish. A bit fruity, or preserved fruits. Alcohol is well hidden, light to only medium mouthfeel. Well saturated, not fizzy. Creamy palate. Not bad at all, but weirdly, prematurely aged.

Dark ruby-amber with red-golden shine (Saison?), thick yellow head, lacey. Nose of sugar (Saison?), Madeira (?? - aha, 'BBdate' is 1 month ago - strange, that's when I bought it), maple syrup and raisins. Taste is water with syrup (like maple or candi) dissolved. Porto-ish flavour too. This is ridiculous. Nice, but ridiculous. Retronasal there's just a hint of oxide-acidity. Good point. Thin bodied. Well THAT's another one OK with the style. Only is it countered by the madeirisation and the esters. It has to loose points somewhere - this travesty of a classic style. But the unexpectedly ageing of the bottle saved it, I darkly suspect. The much rarer draught version is usually better, and more closely resembles the traditional Saison-style. Which is a contradiction in se for a bottle-lagered style...

Bottle conditioned, Best before Dec 2002: Clear orange brown color color, short but lasting creamy head. Aroma is wine-like, cherry, spicy and amber caramel malty. Caramelly sweet taste, with aging sweet sourness. Sticky and creamy palate, bit metallic and bitter. Not really a typical abbey dubbel.

Golden orange color. Smells like sate and peanutbutter, i guess it was a bit metallic indeed. Fruity and malty taste. Nothing very special actually.

Made for the Nice microbrewer Rubens. Brewed in 2000, Bbdate 2004. Br. de Silly has a witbier, Titje blanche, also sold as blanche de Bruxelles, but that is given for 4.7 ABV only? Pale golden, even orangey shine. No wheat haze? Medium white head. Nose of vermouth, coriander, curaçao, herbal, chalk, walnuts. Very spicey taste: coriander, woodruff, citruspeel. Very little sweetness, nearly no tartness. Strange, this beer is a lot more complex than witbier usually is, even de Silly’s Titje, Blanche de Bruxelles… Mouthfeel is quite dry, again vermouth-like. The perfumed dryness keeps dominating the aftertaste. First impression of this beer is refreshing, but then the dryness kicks in and keeps kicking. I wonder what that gives at 30°C at the Côte d’Azur…

Very pale yellow. Very thick head, fine bubbles, collapsing. Nose of grain, sugar, alcohol. Head is very bitter, but dissolves in a very sweet, dry, taste, surrounded by a tart-y palate (carbonation + bitterness, I'd say). Dry mouthfeel. Well-bodied, even pappy; slight alcoholburn. THIS ought to be a spring beer? Next time they brew a winterwarmer at Meynsbrughen, they probably start were Samichlaus left off, I suppose?
