About Mjøderiet:

Behind Mjøderiet stands five firefighters from Bergen with a passion for mead - an ancient cultural drink that has only in the last few years begun to return to Nordic palates.

With backgrounds as home brewers and beer enthusiasts at various levels, we at Mjøderiet have ambitions to revitalize mead in Norway. We believe Norwegians are ready to take part in the international development where mead has made a comeback in several countries. We think mead is insanely exciting and is a drink with great potential.

Mjøderiet wants to spread knowledge about mead, revive the classic styles and experiment with new and exciting flavors. We want to have a foot in the old mead tradition and one in the new craft brewery culture, where we experiment with fruits and spices, different alcoholic strengths and different levels of carbonic acid.

The meeting room will have diversity.
We want quality, and genuine passion for precious drops.
For painstakingly collected honey from diligent bees. For real fruits and berries, for flavorful herbs and spices. And of course for exciting and unique flavor combinations.

We want to meet the people.

On tap at Nærbø Ølfestival. An almost clear one, golden in color, and flat. Passionfruit, pineapple, generic tropical fruityness and some honey in the aroma. It's full-bodied, soft and lightly warming on the palate, sweet, but with a nice acidity. The honey is more pronounced in the flavor than in the aroma, but there's still plenty of room for tropical fruits like passionfruit and pineapple. A hint of dark berries and flowers lurk in the background. Lasting fruity, sweet and sour finish. Dangerously easy drinkable and delicious this one. 191005

Bottle, 75cl. An almost clear one, golden in color, with some bubbles. Still. The aroma has loads of elderflower, tending towards coffee, with a good dash of fruityness, some lemony, citrusy scents and a wee hint of lemon. It's full-bodied and warming, with a soft carbonation. The flavor is spiced and flowery, loads of elderflower, so much it's tending towards some wc cleaner. Some honey and generic fruityness. Coffee-ish hints and a touch of lemon. Nice, but perhaps a bit too elderflowery. Delicious anyway. 220108

8-3-8-4-16 On tap @ Mjøderiet. Pours clear red, with a tiny rocky head. Aroma is heather and raspberries, with a nice balancing honey sweetness. Medium to full body, with no carbonation. Flavour is tart fruity notes of raspberries and musty fruits, as well as honey and heatherry minerals. Very nice fruity notes. Balanced and refreshing.

7-3-6-3-13 On tap @ Mjøderiet. Pours clear orangy yellow, with a small, short lived, creamy head. Aroma is sweet notes of elderflowers and honey, as well as some citrusy notes. Medium body, with very soft carbonation. Flavour is strange floral notes with heather and herbal notes, as well as citrusy notes and earthy minerals. Dry finish.

Bottle. A clear one, golden in color, quite oily, with a honey driven aroma, little less going on. Quite spiced, with a berry touch. It’s sweet on the palate, yet sort of dryish. Quite alcohol warming. Honey driven flavor too, with some apple juice hints, a spiced note and some berries. Heather. Lasting finish. A rather intense one, too one-dimensional honey-ish. 211231
