Description
Renaissance brewing was established in 2005 when experienced brewers Andy Deuchars and Brian Thiel purchased the lease on the historic Grove Mill in Blenheim. Andy and Brian, both natives of Southern California, had one goal in mind - to produce stunning beers in a region more renowned for the excellence of its wines. We are committed to using local ingredients and are one of the pioneers of craft brewing in New Zealand.

Small white head. Clear yellow body is nearly still. Peppery tropical fruit aroma with toffee and wooden grapefruit notes. Dry grapefruity grape taste with peppery herbal notes. Mid-to-light body. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry resiny grape aftertaste with grapefruity mealy notes. A little bit light and watery, but still impressive body and flavour for 3.7%. (0.33l bottle, from wine monopoly.)

Clear deep golden color with a fine white head. Good lacing. Fine intensity in the aroma. Medium (+) body and a fine carbonation level. Tad sweet and a bit to low bitterness compared to the sweetness. Unbalanced in my body. Tropical fruity, malty hoppy and some pine in the flavor.

Lang.

33cl bottle. Dark brown pour, clear, with a tall tan head. Notes of roasted malt, chocolate, roasted coffee beans, light smoke, a bit of pine and citrus hops. Medium body and carbonation. A decent sweet stout, not as sweet as I expected (which is a plus, for me).

33cl bottle. Semi-hazy amber pour with a thin off-white head. Notes of caramel, light resinous hops, orange zest, subtle overripe tropical fruit, dank hops. Medium body, oily, soft carbonation and long hoppy finish. A well-made IPA, it feels a bit traditional, but it’s something I’d enjoy drinking regularly.

Big brown head. Nearly opaque black body shows hint of red light through. Dusty roasty aroma with mealy notes. Sweet cherry jam taste with spicy roasty notes. Full-bodied. Mild, soft, slightly flat mouthfeel. Sweetish roasty cherry jam aftertaste with dark chocolate and spice notes. Lovely! Very harmonic with excellent concentration and lovely balance. (0.5l bottle, from wine monopoly somewhere near home.)
