Description
Aloha. That’s how most conversations begin here. It’s also how many of them end. But “Aloha” doesn’t just mean hello and goodbye and love and welcome. It means more than a word can express. It’s a feeling. A way of life. “Aloha” is the idea that we are all connected to everyone and everything around us and that true joy is found in respecting this connection. And it’s in this aloha spirit that the Kona Brewing Company was founded back in 1994 by Cameron Healy and his son Spoon Khalsa. They combined their love of Hawaii and its pristine, natural beauty with their fondness for delicious, local brews, and lucky for us, their dream lives on more than 20 years later.
So try a few of them. And join us in our pursuit of aloha.

On tap at the Porch Swing. Has a clear golden color with a medium white head. The aroma is floral and very hoppy. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is citrus and sweet malt. A decent pale ale from Kona.

Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours deep dark brown with weak head. I get faint roastiness in the nose as well as mild musty leather oxidation and a faint coffee note. Meek aroma really. The taste has a well blended coffee and roasted malts before mild oxidation disrupts the experience a bit. The taste ends mildly roasty and with smooth mild coffee.

Pours with a large, rocky, off-white head. Reddish-copper body. Light floral hops in the aroma with some hop presence. Taste is more malt than hop bitterness. Pretty watery tasting. Dry mouthfeel.

Not the biggest fan because of how one-dimensional this brew is. Pours black with kakhi, smallish head that has decent lacing. Aroma is fully kona coffee and the flavor is the same cup of joe. Mouthfeel is like drinking a coffee flavored soda. Okay.

Was served this at a restraunt. It was served too cold in a chilled glass. Taste is light malt with a nice hoppy finish but pretty understated. . .a bit watery. Lively carbonation and a nice mouth feel.

Bottled. Near black, minimal head. Evident coffee aroma. medium sweet with dense, rounded mouthfeel. Dominated by coffee and roasty malt flavours. Fairly laid back and with medium bitterness.

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. This Porter is a deep dark brown color with a medium thin tan head that has decent retention. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee and hops, plus some roasted grain. Medium body with a nice coffee character. Roasted malt, hops and chocolate flavors are all present. The finish is maintains the coffee flavoring with some burnt malt and leaves a lingering hops aftertaste. This beer is pretty solid all around.

Bottle from Albertson’s in Tehachapi, CA. The beer is a clear amber color with a medium off-white head that has decent retention. Stringy lacing. Lightly floral hops aroma with some grass and malt. Medium, smooth body with a moderately hoppy character. Grainy malt, flowers and some citrus flavors are present. The finish is dry and hoppy with a slight citrus aftertaste. Above average overall.
