Catch up rating form 2016. Draft at RAM in Boise. On the tail end of fresh hop season, a nice clear, golden ale with sufficient head. Light grassy, hoppy aroma. taste is more of the clean, crisp hops, nice malt base too. Fresh and tasty.

Man, Ales for ALS must be getting either fairly desperate or very large. How the hell did The Ram get the hops for this?
Minimally hazy, drab, dark brassy-gold body sports a small white head showing moderate retention.
Honey, bread, sourdough, stewed hop and mushy nectarine and white grapefruit comprise the nose. There’s a lot of hard mineral, dull grain and straightforward orange-lemon rind. No alcohol and mostly clean, however.
In the mouth it’s quite sweet, with lots of honey-caramel, a big dose of piney-grapefruit and some mushy-sweet apricot-peach. Gets a bit fatiguingly sweet as it progresses, with very monotonous pine-grapefruit backed by peach. Lots of caramel. Low carbonation needs a boost and tightening.

Clear blonde body has a bit of a deeper brass hue to it. White head atop is small and shows low retention.
Malts in the nose express dry grain, biscuit and cracker, with light minerality and easygoing, soft, fruitiness (apples, pears). Light honey-vanilla as it warms, with bit of herbs and a very faint citrus character. Low aroma, but clean and free of alcohol.
Malty in the mouth, not so much sweet and soft but with more of grainy focus. Low hop character, just a touch of herb and pepper. Still, the carbonation is fairly on-point, with a good attenuation and cleanliness to the beer. Just a touch of chalk or wax-like dullness, but otherwise pleasantly grainy and crisp, with a high drinkability.

Sample at the 29th Annual Oregon Brewers Festival on 07/30/2016. The beer pours a clear reddish color with a thin white head that burns away quickly to a sparse outer ring. Spotty lacing. Cherry, yeast and spice in the nose. Light-bodied with a mildly tart cherry character and notes of yeast and doughy malt. The finish is fruity with a cherry aftertaste. Decent overall.

On Tap at the Ram, Boise Rich dark brown standard tan head and lacing. Lots of chocolate and soft mellow rosted malts. Just a touch Quite low bitterness. Fairly smooth thick palatte. Very satisfying and mellow.

Draft at Boise location. Dark brown pour with small skin of a beige head. Chocolaty aroma, tadte is more standard brown ale, mold bitterness from the malts. Smooth, tasty.

On tap at the Meridian pub crystal clear very pale yellow. Quick white head . Very light slightly papery and corny flavors. Decent noble hops balance it out. But this is fuzzy yellow beer. Just a step up from the American macro swill at ever supermarket.

Draft at the Ram-Meridian. After drinking Boise’s IPL earlier today, this leaves a lot to be desired. Not too much difference between this and a macro lager, a hint more flavor maybe. Pretty disappointing.
