Gulden Spoor
Microbrewery
in Gullegem,
West Flanders,
Belgium 🇧🇪
Associated Venue: ’t Rusteel
Established in 2001

Sampled 15 cl. draft @ Modeste 2013. Hazy orange with little white head. Nose is sweet citrus, BE yeast, floral with some bread and bitter hay. Taste is bitter floral with dominating BE yeast, white bread, plaster, faint citrus & zest. Touch bitter spices in the back. Higher carb. body is dominated by BE yeast. Okay but non-remarcable or exiting BE brew.

330 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy mud brown. (Could be due to the bottle being shaken.) Aromas of roasted malts and brown sugar. Flavours of caramel, lightly roasted malts, nuts, salt, and a hint of chocolate. Good for 5%

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. No BBF. Cute label. Text on the label has a long story about the name which always makes me nervous, usually a way of selling a crappy beer in Belgium. The longer the story behind the name / beer, the less I expect from the actual beer. Bright slightly hazy golden, creamy disappearing slightly off-white head. Nose is slightly hoppy, fruity, orange peel with some candy sugar, touch sweetish peel. Taste is candy sugar, sweet wheat, some lemon, slight hops, sweet wheat, slight sweet apple juice, touch fake lemon & some wheat sourness in the back, slight bitter BE yeast. Carb. is a bit effervescent. Not bad, should try to check out more Gulden Spoor beers.

(bottle, 33cl, vintage 2012) Hazy, pale golden colour with a blond mid-sized foamy head. Fruity and flowery aroma with notes of citrus and a tinge of ginger spice. Moderately bitter flavour, medium bodied with a tame carbonation. Initially pale malty with a strange mixture of perfumed flowery and rude spicy notes; bitter-tart and slightly sweet finish with a touch of honey. 31.VIII.13
