[Gravity cask at the brewery’s own stand at the Henley Show] Sold as "Best Bitter", but appears to be an alternative name for this entry. Pours amber brown with a minimal but lasting white head. Tastes main of straw and farmyard, with some earth, a little fruitiness and a tinge of sulphur. It has a soft, gentle, comforting mouthfeel yet is quite thirst-quenching. Overall, a pretty standard bitter.

Bottle at Chris_O London bottlefest March 07. Copper colour with slight haze. Disappearing off white head. Slightly musty, some nut, some toffee aroma. Interestingly syrupy flavour. Some wood. It’s alright.

Bottle conditioned, bought at Waitrose, Wokingham Mid-brown in colour, slightly hazy despite very careful pouring (and lots of sediment); light fruity flavour with a good, long-lasting, bitter follow through. Very easy to drink!

Bottle, 5.4%. Cloudy dark amber colour. Refreshing hop aroma, citric, spicy hop aroma. Quite nice fruity flavour.

Bottle, 5%. Weak, sour lambic-like aroma. Slightly hazy dark amber colour. Thin mouthfeel. The flavour is roasted with a little rough bitterness. The sourness is also found in the flavour, and not unpleasant.

A hazy amber beer with a bubbly light brown head. The aroma is sweet and very fruity combined with a light acidity. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and fruit, and a refreshing hoppiness, leading to a bitter end. Nicely refreshing.

(Bottle 50 cl) Slightly hazy amber golden with a small, rough, off-white head. Aroma of malt and....sherry! Medium body with sweetish, malty notes and some overripe fruit. Dry and rather hoppy finish. Quite thrilling. 220906

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, fully golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving some laces. Aroma of both malts and caramel. Medium-bodied with caramelish notes yet a dry finish. Very quaffable. 130806

Bright cask at Merton Beer Festival, Oxfordshire, July 7th and 8th 2006. Strange that a brewery would only let Merton Festival have this beer bright, despite there being no problems with picking up, lettling it settle etc: I found this a rather dull amber coloured beer that that failed to impress. It’s not suprising that I’ve rarely see it in cask anywhere as it is a thin, unexciting and an easily forgetable brew.

175ml glass at Reading BF 06. Some chemical aroma with lots of honey, some nuts. Beautiful in mouth, with flavours of nougat, nut, honey. Good sticky intensity whilst remaining agile. I like this type of mead.
