On tap at Callister, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out whiskey soaked oak chips, with considerable vanilla. Flavour is along the same lines - tastes like they just poured whiskey in here. Finished with oak, booze and vanilla. Smooth palate. Not bad for what it is.

Cask - Roast, cocoa and lots of nutty notes. Jet brown with a light brown head. Molasses, hoppy leaf and with a bit of that minty sweet finish. Nice mouthfeel.

Draft - Whisky, touch of booze and cocoa. Jet black with a light brown head. Whisky, grains and some light roast and a bit of a whisky finish. Lots of whisky but body is too thin to carry the flavours.

On cask at Callister, pours a hazy dark orange amber with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out dark dried fruits, bready notes and a toffee. Flavour follows accordingly, with lots of figs, toffee and English bready malt. Well-balanced and true to name. This is really nicely done.

On cask at Callister, pours a hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma brings out piney notes and some biscuity malt. Flavour is fairly stale and astringent, with bready notes and bitter hops without any flavour. There's also vegetal notes in there. Nothing much to write home about here. Not good.

On cask at the Alibi Room, pours black with a small bubbly tan head. Aroma is strange, with nail polish notes, earth and a nasty sourness. Flavour is absolutely vile - notes of nail polish, sick sourness and chemical notes. Absolutely disgusting. How can you serve this?

Cask @ Big Rock. Dark brown, thick head. The aroma shows light roasty character with coffeeish richness. There’s nice malt sweetness, with a touch of cask acidity, moderate bitterness. And this has nice chocolatey malt richness.

Cask at Callister
Hazy dark Amber to brown color with compact head. Toasty and nutty beer, with some dusty British yeast character and bread, but the body is really too thin, almost no bitterness, and the final very short. Being on cask, the carbonation is very low and the temperature is on the high side, but correct; it’s also a bit metallic. Not bad, needs some improvement.
