At the Ølfestival, Esbjerg, Denmark 22-10-09. Pours mahogany breaking away to light brown at the edges. Some warmth from the alcohol, a little bitter sting on the periphery. There is a nice thickness to this with some lovely roast coffee flavours trotting through, nice. A6 A4 F8 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle, 6.0%. Cough syrup, aniseed aroma, quite sewery. Hazy amber colour. Very small white head. Sweet flavour, aniseed, sewer. Tastes quite bad, actually. Like old, bad breath. Seems to have a good malt base, but something must have gone wrong with the spices.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours slightly hazy deep amber with a rough off-white head. Spicy sweet star anise in the nose. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, caramel, orangey accents and a whiff of licorice. Some decent hoppiness in the finish. Please, please Danish brewers: keep the star anise on your shelves instead of ruining your beers by adding it! 241009
