Description
2016 saw our founders set off on the beer research trip of a lifetime.

And on their return in 2017, they set up Double-Barrelled from a garage in Caversham. By the end of 2018, Double-Barrelled scaled up to a 24hl brewery and onsite taproom in Tilehurst, Reading.

Gravity cask at the 31st Tamworth Beer Festival, Assembly Rooms Tamworth, day 2 - 05/09/2025.
Clear golden blonde topped with a white head.
Nose is mellow citric flesh, grass, light breads, orange zest.
Taste comprises bitter orange, grass, pine needle, melon.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close splashed with juicy hop bitterness.
Decent cask pale.

Appearance is hazy amber, with a 1-finger foamy thick head. Aroma- hop resin, slight oniony hops, mango, grapefruit, papaya, stone fruit, citrus. Taste is orange and mango, hop resin, pine, hint of peach and stone fruit, sweet fruit, peppery hops, fruit juice. Quite thick and full-bodied, citrusy notes at the end.

Keg at the Grapes, Oxford, 16/08/2025.
Moderately hazed golden orange topped with a lasting white head ... some lacing ensues.
Nose is bitter orange, grass, pine needle, grass.
Taste comprises melon, mandarin, light pine nibble, mango hint.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with juicy come grassy hop bitterenss.
Tidy pale.

On tap at The Rusty Bucket, Bexley, Kent/SE London. A hazy golden yellow coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Very fruity, lemon, orange, pineapple. Sweetish IPA with a perfume thing going on within. Not too great really.

On tap at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Nose is passionfruit, sherbet lemon, grapefruit, papaya. Citrus & tropical fruit flavours. Lots of juicy summer fruits. Good stuff.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 20th July 2025. Slightly hazy gold with shallow off-white foam and scant lacing. Grassy hoppiness in aroma. Pithy citrus liquid and a lemon meringue finish. Hints of raspberry late. Smooth mouthfeel and a light body.

[Cask at the Nags Head, Reading.] A slightly hazy straw coloured pour with a close white head; tropical fruit aroma; quite aromatic tropical fruit taste; and a clean dry fruity finish. A tasty pale ale.
