About
2016 saw our founders set off on the beer research trip of a lifetime.

And on their return in 2017, they set up Double-Barrelled from a garage in Caversham. By the end of 2018, Double-Barrelled scaled up to a 24hl brewery and onsite taproom in Tilehurst, Reading.

[Cask at the Nags Head, Reading.] A slightly hazy straw coloured pour with a close white head; tropical fruit aroma; quite aromatic tropical fruit taste; and a clean dry fruity finish. A tasty pale ale.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A cloudy head; amber pour with a loose white head; lactic tropical fruit aroma; rather thin in the mouth with a sharp tropical fruit taste particularly mango, pineapple and lemon; then a crisp bitter lemony finish that just about covers the alcohol that brings immediate warmth to the belly. A tasty IPA.

Can from Waitrose, Frimley. Hazy pale orange. Thick fluffy foamy white head. Aroma combines sweet fruit and vanilla porridge with a bitter slightly sour edge. Fruity. Slightly sour, tart, at first. Followed by a sweeter fuity fliw. Sour edge. Tart. Prickly. Vinous notes too. Nut lacks oomph. Medium bodied. Creamy. Flat-average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Decent enough but flavourwise underpowered, as is the carbonation.

Hazy orange with a pale tint. Foamy white head. Aroma is fruity with a bitter peripheral kick. Bitter. More woody than a resinous discharge. Tart citrus. Hints of sweetness, unless it's my imagination. Thick. Slick but pithy. Flat carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Enjoyable for sure.

Can. A mild to medium haze on this orange gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Airy smooth palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Airy pale malts, an ephemeral creamy sweetness. Soft cooling pine, slightly perfumey, a whisper of Parma Violets. Modest semi ripe citrus, rounded and soft, if fairly juicy. Smooth finish. Fine, bit sweet and soft. And ripe.

Can. A very mild haze on this gold beer, decent bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy light palate, a mild dryness, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth light pale malts bring a forward creamy sweetness. A decent array of quality hops went in to this brew and it shows. Soft pine into soft but juicy stone fruits, pineapple and citrus. Touches of berry fruits and candy fruits. Finishes light and mildly dry and imparts a mildly tongue tingling hop spice. Rather good, what?
