Description
Bear Cider = Leonard Koningswijk

330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased at CiderCider. BBF 15/09/2016. Clear bottle. Bear not beer… Lightly hazy, tad pale golden. Carbonation is huge & very visible, fizzes away like a heavily carbonated lemonade when poured. Nose is faintly sour apple, light soap, faint aspirin, apple is very big & lightly rustic. Lightly soapy apple taste, lemon acidic, washing powder dry finish, rustic sour, sourness is tad chemical, faint pickle juice, faint toothpaste… Sounds bad when I write it like that but it is rather decent. Carbonation is very big. It is very big on pure sweet apple, getting lots of other notes there. Additional notes aren’t necessarily positive.

Sampled from bottle thanks to Caesar. Clear pale golden color, virtually no head. Smell and taste apples, a bit champagne like, a little dry. Not bad at all. Clean and crisp.

Bottle from Barrique Odijk, BB 15092016, large sample. Clear yellow color, short frothy head, lively bubbly carbonation. Aroma of fresh green apple, slight candy, bit wood, slight tropical fruit notes, minimal touch of funk. Soft sweet taste, quite high in carbonation, slight sour apple. Bit dry in the finish. Bit high on carbonation for me, will leave the bottle for a couple of days in the fridge, to see if it might even improve. Still quite a decent first sparkling cider.
