Barn Town was built on one word - Passion. Founder Pete Faber was born and raised right here in Des Moines. After college, he ventured into the hospitality business in Chicago. During his 16 years in Chicago, Pete's passion for craft beer and his state of Iowa grew more and more. After contemplating for several years, he decided to move back home to build something that "would make his home town proud of having." Thus spawned Barn Town Brewing.
Our mission is to provide a unique experience through homemade, full-flavored, artisanal ales and chef-inspired elevated American style pub fare. BTB is committed to the use of high quality ingredients, with the access to healthy foods from Iowa farms, and the transparency in ingredient sourcing and use. Barn Town’s value proposition relies on the freshness, quality, and origin of the food and drink.

Pour is a grape jelly purple with a large purple head. Aroma is all grape jelly. Flavor is grape jelly with a peanut butter after taste. This was not sour at all. Taste like a PB&J sandwich. I am not a fan of sours but the name caught my attention and I had to try it.

16 oz. can, $4.49 at John's Grocery. Hazy, opaque pour under a big foamy head. Dank hop smell, followed by pine and resin, with a bit of stone fruit. Sharp hop bitterness in the first sip. Malts are a bit thin and dry against this hop bomb. Hop part is actually pretty well done, but I kind of wanted more balance.

Pint can from Woodman’s Appleton, 4/21/22. Murky orange, medium frothy tan head, good retention. Aroma of grapefruit, apricot pit, dank. Taste is grapefruit, pineapple, melon, dank. Tangerine. Hint of vanilla. Weird, but good. Juicy, bitterness is extremely mild. Better than the sum of its parts. Good Overall.
