Description
Iowa Proud.

Barn Town was built on one word - Passion. Founder Pete Faber was born and raised right here in Des Moines. After college, he ventured into the hospitality business in Chicago. During his 16 years in Chicago, Pete's passion for craft beer and his state of Iowa grew more and more. After contemplating for several years, he decided to move back home to build something that "would make his home town proud of having." Thus spawned Barn Town Brewing.

Our mission is to provide a unique experience through homemade, full-flavored, artisanal ales and chef-inspired elevated American style pub fare. BTB is committed to the use of high quality ingredients, with the access to healthy foods from Iowa farms, and the transparency in ingredient sourcing and use. Barn Town’s value proposition relies on the freshness, quality, and origin of the food and drink.

16 oz can from HyVee, Ankeny. Nice strawberry smell under the tab. The smell becomes a strawberry Fanta when I pour it. Pink foam over a brownish red beer body. Some strawberry pop in the initial taste. There's also a side taste of milk and some tartness from lactic acid. The vanilla blends in with the rest of the taste. I would like to think I've got a taste of the shortcake, too, but it's more of a stronger vanilla impression.

16 oz. can from HyVee, Ankeny. Purple pour, no bubbles or foam. Blueberry nose, a bit tart. Nice blueberry soda or wine cooler taste. An impression of whipped cream lactose around some sour. Nice dessert beer, alcohol and total mouthfeel is light.

16 oz. can from HyVee, Ankeny Nice root beer smell right under the pull tab. Pours a brown porter beer body under a head that could go with a root beer. Okay, maybe it is actually brewed root beer with alcohol added. But the vanilla is there as well, and a very light tartness. Either way, pretty enjoyable and root beer sweet.

Single can from HyVee Ankeny, $6.50. Fruit salad and marshmallow smell right under the tab. Opaque orange pour with just some fizz, no head. Catching yes, some pineapple and orange, plus marshmallow. I also think there's some apple in here. Since I've not been much on any fruit salad, I can't compare this to it. I swirled in some of the dregs from the bottom of the csan and got more fruit flavor, plus more puckery sourness. That's what's making me think of tart apple when it's not part of the fruit list.
