Erupted out of the bottle on opening, unfortunately. Small offwhite head. Light amber body. Spicy fruity honey aroma, kind of sharpish, and semi-alcoholic. Spicy, peppery fruity malt taste, kind of hot, with alcoholic notes. Rounded taste. Dry, wooden honeyish aftertaste. Nice! (0.33l bottle from Dorstvlegel, Antwerp.)

Bottled. Hazy orange colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is alcohol, yeast and slight hints of wheat, caramel malts and hops. Flavour is fruity, yeasty, caramel malts and a bit fudgeish.

Würziger, hefig-schokoladiger Antrunk. Dieser ist ein guter Einstieg, das Bier wird später nämlich noch würziger und intensiver, wenn auch nicht so stark, wie es der Antrunk vermittelt. Ausgewogen, eine leichte Herbe bringt frische in das sonst festgefahren malzige Bier. Der Alkohol versteckt sich nicht, stört aber zu keiner Zeit und symbolisiert einfach und schlicht seiner Anwesenheit in einem schweren Abgang. Zudem hefig, nussig, abgerundet. 750 ml bottle; Nose of sweet grainy yeast and orangeesters; slightly hazy orange gold with a bog, very long lasting, yellowish head; flavor is grainy and woody with some spices, breadiness, and orange-citrus notes; interesting and flavorful; different from other Belgians I’ve had!

Slighly hazy golden coloured body with a very thin white head. Aroma of honey, wheat, yeast, oranges and coriander seed. Medium-bodied; Sweet flavour up front fading to a wheatie & yeastie flavour all coupled with a spicey finish. Aftertaste is mellow, but still shows a lot of character. Overall, a very good belgie with tons of character and isn’t as strong as a tripel. I’m not sure why this one doesn’t have a higher ranking - this is a great belgian beer for the summer...which is when I’m enjoying it! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 21-April-2007 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Süßer, etwas bananiger Geruch. Malziger Antrunk, minimal süß, mit deutlich herbem Ton. Im Mittelteil wird’s dann etwas würziger und malziger, immernoch ist es aber für 8,5% sehr mild. Der Nachgeschmack wird bitter, das nussige Aroma ist angenehm. Besser als die 2 anderen von mir getrunkenen Boelens Biere, aber das ist nun auch nicht wirklich schwer. Saurer Geruch, erinnert etwas an eingelegte Gurken. Kräuterartiger und herber Antrunk fast ebenso merkwürdig wie das "Waase Wolf" der selben Brauerei. Sehr würziger, fruchtiger und süßer Geruch. Milder Antrunk, das Bier startet eigenartig, absolut nicht, wie man es bei dem Geruch erahnt. Holzig, etwas kräuerartig, sehr trocken. Im Mittelteil kommt ein säuerliches Aroma hinzu, das auch im Nachgeschmack nicht weicht. Was ist das für en Zeug??? Test vom 17.3.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,4,5,4,8,4 - 4,85

Bottle: Poured dark brown/black with cream head. Honey sweet aroma with some other fruit. This beer is very honey oriented and not very pleasant to my taste buds.

33 cL bottle. Pours orange with huge white head. Aroma is distinct yeasty and honey, has some very fruity notes in the honey. Mouthfeel is rather soft. Taste is sweet, flowery honey and a single note that sticks out (maybe this is corriander - but I’m not sure). Has some bitterhops in the finish.
