Aromas and flavors are more like an old school American Pale Ale than a New Zealand pilsner. Moderate bittersweet and other than that not bad but not great.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour, clear, finely beaded beige head. A big sweet, boozy blast hits the nose first, cola, spicy. Taste leads with whiskey barrel, rye, sweet, woody, figs, rum. Even at 8.3%, it brings a lot of warmth. Seems a bit thin and a surprisingly fast finish.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Deep mahogany brown color. Small beige head. Oaky, dark malt aroma. Flavor upfront is dark, dried fruits, oak, toffee and warming alcohol. Sticky mouthfeel. Bittersweet chocolate and wood on backend. Long, bitter finish.

Taster at LL Beaverton. Dark brown pour, wispy tan head, streaky lacing. Aroma hints at some light roastiness, chocolate. Taste picks up a bit, roasty, bitter, light sweetness, cola. Subdued for the style

Can from Tavour. Pours dark mahogany with a significant but transient tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, bourbon and rum spice. Med plus body. Flavor is dark fruit, a chocolate note, heat, rum spice, and bourbon. Neither dry nor sticky. Heat and wood astringency sub for bitter. Malt is kind of toffee/tmavy. Nice sipper.

Can from Tavour. Pours dark mahogany with a head that vanished nearly instantaneously. Aroma of interesting dark fruit with some rye spice notes. Full bodied. Flavor is darkish roasty malt (not burnt or toasted) with a reminder of pomegranate seeds. There are hints of chocolate and some rye spice notes. Not getting wood - just the rye. Very satisfying flavor and heat intensity. Didn't even notice heat til I thought of it.

Can from Tavour. Pours dark mahogany with a large tan head that foamed around. Aroma of dark roasty malt with mixed fruits. Arguably full bodied. Flavor is that tasty dark malt with notes of chocolate, apricot, spice. Just a little more bitter than malty - but not much more. Good flavor.

Can. Pours a clear golden hue with a medium white head. A sweet light fruit and malty nose. Toast, some mild resin, sweet oranges, not super clean. Dry earthy finish. OK.
