4/4/2021. Bottle shared at the first post-lockdown Ipswich beer share. From Hoptimaal online store. Poured cloudy pale yellow gold with a frothy white head. Aroma of citrus, mango, grass, herbs and vanilla. Medium sweetness, light bitterness and medium tartness. Medium body. Fizzy carbonation. Sweet of the aroma contrasts quite nicely with the tart taste but was just a bit underwhelmed by this one.

500ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, thick, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, dark brown head. Roasty, spicy, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of maple sirup, some coffee, a spicy touch of marmite, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate. Taste is slightly bitter, roasty, and sweet-ish, chocolately dark malty, slightly spicy, notes of coffee, maple sirup, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, a touch of marmite; lingering finish gets lost of the spiciness, the maple sirup becomes ever more integrated, notes of coffee, sugared coffee, dark chocolate remain. Viscous, creamy texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, fine and soft carbonation. Rich, intense, massive - eminent.

0,31l bottle from Hoptimaal online store. Bottle says F.09/19, L 13. Black beer with very small brown head that disappears quickly. Aroma has roasted malts, burnt coffee and caramel with some chocolate and small licorice notes. Flavor has quite much burnt coffee, ashes, roasted malts, caramel, licorice and somehow drier bitter and hoppy, coffeeish end. Decent, but nothing remarkable. Normal version was better.

Light haze on this amber brown beer, a weak bubbly pale tan head fails to provide convincing coverage. The nose however is clearly maple. Smooth malts, decent if unsweet caramel-toffee. Some smooth earthy coffee underneath. Smooth finish. Tidy but slightly frustrating barleywine. Some nice maple and coffee aspects here, but there is no backbone of a mature barleywine to hang its hat on. Flavoursome and drinkable strong beer. Naive barleywine but quite drinkable.

310ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, brown head. Relatively weak, roasty and chocolately, dark malty aroma, initially hints of coffee and dark chocolate; later ever more predominated by coffee flavours. Taste is bitter, resinous hoppy and bitter, roasty dark malty, notes of coffee, roasted coffee beans, some dark chocolate, a dry, roasty, almost ashy touch of burnt coffee; lingering, dry, roasty finish with coffee and mocha notes, some warming alcohol. Viscous texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying, simultaneously slightly dry, minimally metallic-repellent palate, medium, soft carbonation. Not really a late bloomer, but the coffee flavours need some time (and temperature) to develop to full grandeur. Way better than the Coconut Edition.
